A recent job completed, a little decorative hand rail and matching grab rail for the other side.

The customer wanted to have a wooden top rail fitted afterwards, so the top rail was left narrow with countersunk screw holes so it can be attached later on.

An interesting little job completed last week.

Restoring and refitting a 100 plus year old estate gate.

The gate was badly twisted, had a few broken bars and the main hinge post was rotten. The latch post had also been bent and damaged by storms a few years ago.

So we removed the gate and took it back to the workshop to repair, straighten and repaint it. We heated and straightened the latch post inplace and made up a new hinge post from scratch.

We rehung the gate with new hinges and made sure it works as it did originally.

Alec inherited the business from his dad 1953 and has been working away here ever since.

The picture is from this morning as what else would you do on your birthday.... digging holes and mixing cement, to fit up a pair of posts for yet another gate.
