Mechanical ground anchors designed directly into the sheet pile, adding the horizontal support needed to resist lateral pressures on site.

For Morrisroe, our Vulcan Earth Anchor AS-400 was installed approximately 6m above ground level, requiring an access scaffold tower and a long-reach excavator to get the job done safely.

Bespoke load plates were fabricated to suit the 30° anchor angle, designed to weld directly to the face of the sheet pile — a great example of how our systems adapt to the specifics of a site, not the other way around.

Working directly alongside the River Adur, a sheet pile retaining wall at the AvantiGas site in Coolham needed stabilising — while a new section of wall further along the boundary needed a horizontal prop force of its own.

With grout spillage into the river not an option, our team specified Vulcan AS-120 and AS-300 driven earth anchors, chosen with designer HOP Consulting Limited to meet their load requirements and confirmed by suitability testing to 175kN. Installed by C J THORNE & CO LIMITED using a 13-tonne excavator with a hydraulic breaker — with on-site training from Anchor Systems — every anchor was proof loaded to the design

The result: a stabilised retaining wall and a properly propped new wall section, delivered with a mechanical anchoring solution that kept the adjacent watercourse risk-free throughout.

We recently completed a project at Oakwell House, Barnsley, stabilising a timber crib retaining wall that had begun to fail and lose backfill, forcing South Yorkshire Pensions Trust to barrier off part of the car park on safety grounds.

Working with GeoGrow, we designed and delivered 43 x AS-30 Vulcan Earth Anchors to globally stabilise the wall, backed by on-site testing and detailed geotechnical design. The result: a stabilised wall, a reopened car park, and a fraction of the cost and disruption of full reconstruction.

A visit worth marking properly!

On Tuesday 25 August, we welcomed the Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey to Anchor Systems, joined by the Deputy Lord-Lieutenant and three cadets representing the Sea Cadets, Explorer Scouts and Air Training Corps — a personal follow-up to our The King's Awards for Enterprise Innovation 2026.

The visit included a full tour of our offices and a first-hand look at the Anchor Post and Anchor Screw systems in action, including how they're being used on live projects like Cockfosters Depot.

The Lord-Lieutenant reflected that seeing the industry up close "makes so much sense," praising both the thought behind the products and their sustainability.
