We may not have posted for a while but that’s not to say we haven’t been busy 😁
Had a few minutes today to fix an ongoing issue on the Mondeo project
The passenger headlight was always temperamental and filling with condensation
The condensation problem will just need a new lamp ultimately but the broken connector to the lamp was the functionality problem
Time for a new connector and a little more loom to play with to make it easier to remove if required in future
A few minutes soldering and all is good
Replacement lamp to follow and a refresh of both with a quick polish 👍

So, ultimately, the original (uprated) clutch in this RS equipped with a Quaife sequential gearbox could not take the pace and quickly shuffled off this mortal coil !

As the car is planned for various trips to tracks around the UK this year the owner opted for a suitable replacement that could keep up and attain some reasonable life.

Enter Helix Twin Plate

After taking advantage of the removed gearbox and replacing the rear main seal the time for installation was upon us , taking all the usual car to prepare carefully everything was cleaned , de greased , test fit and double checked before final torque settings and inspection

This should be good for a few thousand hard pressed track miles now 👍

Out with the old , in with the new ! Oil , Filter , Drain plug , Air filter & Spark plugs renewed during this Fiesta ST...

New clutch going in this track prepared Focus RS Mk3 so a good chance to replace the rear main oil seal
Oil drained, sump removed and thoroughly cleaned including removing the baffles.
All faces cleaned , dried and de greased.
RTV high temp sealant beaded where the seal joins the block for direct application using the supplied Ford applicator.
Same sealant used again on the clean and degreased sump face where it meets the block, front cover and rear main seal.
All left overnight to cure.
This car should be leak free for many miles and years to come 👌
Now to fit the clutch and refill the fluids !

Great to see Lee’s car back with us again for a small refresh on the headlights and intercooler
New genuine Ford headlights were swapped for the units that served him well for 17 years and the intercooler received a fresh lick of paint to remove the unsightly flaking we all eventually see after years of use
No power upgrades this time round just a fresh look to the front end and it really does look good 👌
