🔧 Don't you just love a Saturday breakdown? 😅

It's been a while since we've posted on here, so here's what yesterdays "quick job" turned into...

We were called out to replace 2 seized bearings on a cooking kettle lid. Simple enough... or so we thought!

Once on site we found: ⚠️ Both bearings had completely seized onto the shaft and cam. ⚠️ There was no access to press or drive the shaft out. ⚠️ Even the "metal persuader" wasn't persuading anything! 😂

The only option was to get creative.

✅ Cut an access panel into the pillar. ✅ Still couldn't remove it, so the side of the pillar had to be cut out. ✅ Manufactured a new side panel. ✅ Welded everything back together. ✅ Welded the access panel back in. ✅ Fitted new bearings and had the kettle back up and running.

Sometimes a straightforward bearing replacement turns into a fabrication job, machining job and maintenance job all rolled into one. That's exactly why experience matters.

All in a day's work for the GMK team. 💪

GMK Maintenance Services were at the Universal Robots UK HQ this week completing training on the new PolyScope X software platform.

It was great to continue progressing with the Universal Robots range and gain deeper insight into the wide variety of applications collaborative robots can deliver — from packing and palletising to machine tending, welding, and quality improvement processes.

We’re looking forward to bringing this knowledge back to help our customers improve efficiency, reduce manual handling, and add real value to their operations.
