Design Engineer (SolidWorks & Revit)

We are currently looking to recruit a Design Engineer to join our growing team.

The successful candidate must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience using SolidWorks and Revit. The role will primarily involve the design of pipe layouts, pipe runs, and building layouts, working closely with both the workshop and on-site contractors to ensure designs are practical and efficiently delivered.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design and develop pipework layouts and pipe runs
• Produce building and plant layouts using SolidWorks and Revit
• Create detailed manufacturing and installation drawings
• Work closely with the workshop/fabrication team to support buildability
• Liaise with on-site contractors during installation and commissioning
• Update drawings to reflect design changes and as-built conditions

Key Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with SolidWorks and Revit
• Strong understanding of pipework and plant layout design
• Ability to collaborate effectively with workshop and site teams
• Good attention to detail and practical problem-solving skills
• Experience in mechanical, industrial, or process environments

Desirable (but not essential):
• Experience with stainless-steel pipework
• Knowledge of industrial buildings or plant installations
• Understanding of fabrication and site installation processes

Your Role Will Include:

- Carrying out mechanical installation of equipment on anaerobic digestion (AD) sites, including pumps, pipework, mixers, tanks and separators.
• Supporting the complete build, commissioning and start-up of new biogas plant builds across the UK and ROI
• At times, Working away from home in the UK for up to 5 days at a time (Monday–Friday), with travel and accommodation arranged by the company
• Performing routine servicing and maintenance checks on operational AD plants
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults during both scheduled and emergency callouts
• Working closely with the engineering team and project managers to ensure deadlines and quality standards
• Occasionally assisting with electrical and control system teams where needed

What We’re Looking For:
• Experience in mechanical fitting or general engineering
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Willingness to travel across the UK and Republic of Ireland

🚧 On-site Monday to Friday in Edinburgh with several of our skilled teams — including tank installation crews, precision pipe fabricators, and mechanical engineers — delivering exceptional progress on our latest full bespoke AD plant build.

In just four full days, we pushed through long hours and strong collaboration to complete a significant amount of work — wrapping up Phase One kit-out ahead of schedule.

📏 Measurements are now taken for Phase Two, which includes the membrane installation and mechanical fit-out of the feeder system and sulphur removal unit.

The teams are now on the boat home for a well-earned weekend break — outstanding work all round!
