Where does a subsea cable actually come ashore? Not just anywhere, at a carefully sited building called a cable landing station (CLS).

Every route between two land masses relies on two of these, one on each side. Every bit of traffic that cable carries passes through this one site before it goes anywhere else, running reliably around the clock.

It's the handover point between land and sea, and the whole journey depends on it.

Thursday was our annual Sizzling Summer BBQ, and it did not disappoint! 🌭☀️

We were delighted the weather held up, warm and dry all day, with the sun even poking its head out a few times. Great food, great craic, and a well-earned break together as a team. Big thanks to PMCS BBQ Catering for keeping everyone fed with the finest cuts from McKee's Butchers Maghera, plus the most delicious tartlets from Sweet and Savory with Agnes. Food was delicious. Craic was ninety. A fabulous day had by all. Here's to the next one!

Nearly everything you do online has, at some point, crossed an ocean floor. A message, a call, an order, even the video you're watching on TikTok: all of it travels as light, pulsing through fibre-optic cables on the seabed, and it happens so fast you'd never notice.

But the subsea cable is only the first leg. The moment that signal reaches shore, it hands off to land-based infrastructure, just as unforgiving of failure.

We've written a new piece on what happens next: the cable landing station, the in-line amplifiers, and the fibre exchange that carry that signal the rest of the way.

Big weekend at the factory. One of our cable landing stations left our factory floor on Sunday, bound for Newgale, Wales, where our installation team will be putting it in place.

Cable landing stations are where subsea fibre optic cables come ashore and connect into the wider network, so getting the structure right matters. Ours are built bespoke from the ground up, and our own installation team sees it through to completion, so it's set to play its part in keeping people connected for years to come.

Yesterday was National CAD Day! 🖥️

A day that celebrates the history and evolution of CAD software, and just how much it does behind the scenes on every project we build.

To mark it, we caught up with André, our Engineering Manager of 26 years, about his journey with CAD.

Some products just keep working.

Our team visited Dublin yesterday, measuring up for two Cable Landing Stations (CLS’s), one for a new site, the other is an additional cabin for a site we already serve. While there, they got to see two familiar faces still going strong: a CLS installed just under a decade ago, and a Fibre Exchange installed over two decades ago. Both still standing exactly as they were the day they went in.

No corrosion. No compromise. Just Technology and Engineering doing what it was built to do, decade after decade, despite years of exposure to the salt air of the Irish coast.

That's the standard we build to.

🏗️Another milestone reached. Project complete.

We've just completed our final cabin installation at Knockmore, Co. Mayo, marking the completion of our 5-year Fibre Exchange programme with National Broadband Ireland, delivering cabins as part of the National Broadband Plan. Over 100 bespoke cabins manufactured and installed nationwide.

Each cabin was delivered as a fully bespoke, turnkey product, built to house the critical infrastructure that connects homes, farms and businesses to high-speed fibre broadband. Every cabin we've built has been custom manufactured to withstand its environment while protecting the technology inside.

Nationally, more than 526,000 premises can now order high-speed fibre broadband on the NBI network, with over 183,000 already connected. Every new connection helps unlock opportunities for remote working, education, local enterprise and stronger rural communities, and we're proud of the part our team has played in making that possible.

Thank you to NBI for choosing us for this project, and to everyone on our team who's been part of this journey: five years, over 100 cabins, and a project now complete.

And what a week for Mayo! 1.1m tuned in to watch the All-Ireland final on Sunday, with 566,000 streams recorded on RTÉ Player, a reminder of how many of us now watch the games we love over a broadband connection. We're proud to have played our part in NBI's rollout, helping bring that option to homes across the country. Congrats to the lads on a historic win! 🟢🔴

This morning our HR Manager attended Mid Ulster LMP's 'Becoming, Being, Beyond: Evolving as an Employer of Choice' event in Cookstown.

A good morning all round, insightful discussions, great to catch up with familiar faces and meet some new ones too. We find the LMP Employer Toolkit to be a great hub of information, providing support and advice for our business.

Great to be part of events like this that help us continue to invest in our team.
