Get up to ยฃ100/$150 extra profit in less than 15 minutes.
In vehicle recycling, the real value isnโ€™t just in the shell.

Itโ€™s in the materials you can recover before the vehicle reaches the shredder or baler.

The Powerhand VRS helps operators remove higher-value materials quickly from the cab, using the dexterity grapple and clamp system to hold the vehicle securely while engines, axles, wiring looms and other valuable components are removed.

For yards, that means:
โ€ข More high-value materials recovered
โ€ข Less copper contamination in shredded steel
โ€ข Faster vehicle processing

The principle is simple.
Recover the value before the vehicle becomes scrap.

Are you looking for a new job?

Weโ€™re looking for an engineer to join the team at Clark/Powerhand.

Weโ€™re more interested in finding the right person with a good attitude than someone with a long list of qualifications.

Experience in fabrication or welding would be ideal, but there are no specific qualifications required. If youโ€™re practical, keen to learn and take pride in doing a good job, weโ€™d be interested in speaking to you.

If that sounds like you, or you know someone who could be a good fit, email [email protected] and weโ€™ll be in touch.

Please note: this role is based at our workshop in Parkgate, Dumfries.

Powerhand FAQ: VRS

If youโ€™ve been considering adding a VRS (Vehicle Recycling System) system to your yard, here are the answers to some of the questions we get most often.

What does the VRS actually do?
Help operators dismantle end-of-life vehicles from the cab before crushing or shredding.

Why dismantle first?
Because there is still value in the vehicle. The VRS helps operators remove valuable parts and higher-grade materials before the shell moves through the rest of the process.

What can operators recover?
Engines, gearboxes, axles, suspension parts, starter motors, alternators, wiring looms, copper, aluminium and other valuable materials.

What makes it different from a standard grab?
The VRS is purpose-built for vehicle dismantling. The dexterity grapple and clamp legs work together to hold, pull, split and separate vehicle components with more control.

What is the VRS Drive In?
A flexible vehicle dismantling set-up that allows suitable machines to connect to the clamp legs without needing a permanent welded installation.

Why choose Drive In?
It gives yards more flexibility. One machine can be used for VRS work, then moved back onto other jobs across the yard when needed.

Which model is right for my yard?
That depends on your machine size, yard layout, vehicle volume and the level of dismantling you want to do.

Is it only for large recycling yards?
No. The VRS range includes options for different machines and different yard requirements.

Who should I speak to?
Get in touch with Powerhand and we can advise on the right VRS model, machine requirements and whether a fixed or Drive In set-up makes most sense.

Industry Insight: new EU rules put vehicle recovery in sharper focus.

The EU has formally adopted new vehicle circularity rules, placing greater focus on how cars and vans are designed, dismantled, reused and recovered at end of life.

One of the key changes is recycled plastic. Six years after the regulation enters into force, at least 15% of plastic used in new vehicles must come from recycled material. After ten years, that rises to 25%.

At least 20% of that recycled plastic requirement must come from material recovered from end-of-life vehicles.
For vehicle recyclers, this part is key.

If more material needs to come from end-of-life vehicles, the dismantling stage becomes an even more commercially important part of the process. Parts, components and higher-grade materials need to be removed properly before the remaining vehicle body moves through crushing or shredding.
The new rules also put more focus on traceability, authorised treatment and stopping vehicles that are no longer roadworthy from being exported as used cars.

The Powerhand VRS is built for this stage of the process, helping operators strip, separate and recover more from end-of-life vehicles with speed, grip and control from the cab.
