Midtherm Laser Ltd Thank you for viewing our page. Midtherm Laser Ltd is one the UK's largest sub contract laser cutting and forming specialists.

CNC Flat Bed Laser cutting is a process where we are able to rapidly produce highly accurate large and small flat parts from sheets of material, using a laser beam focused through a non-contact cutting head. These parts can range in size from a few millimeters upto 4m x 2m, in thicknesses of 0.5mm upto 20mm, and whilst we mainly cut mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and titanium. Other materi

als can be cut using our laser technology. The process begins with a cad drawing, which can be produced in house, supplied from the customer in dwg or dxf form, scanned from an image or flat blank/template. This file is then imported into our CNC software where laser technology is applied to create cut paths, at this stage we also check for accuracy of the image compared with the customers original details. Next we nest the part into the appropriate material, sometimes along with other items to arrive at an efficient material usage. The finished nest is then sent to the appropriate machine for processing

With our 5 bystronic CNC laser cutting machines, we are able to produce laser cut profiles from just a few millimeters, upto sizes of 4m x 2m x 30mm thick. These use a variety of gasses and pressures which allows us to apply different cut finishes and work to tolerances of +/- 0.25mm and better. We are also able to fold profiles upto 4m long using our Bystronic CNC press brakes.

- Intricate Artistic Cutting

Using our fiber lasers we are able to cut to a tolerance of +/- 0.25mm. This is important across all components, but especially noticeable on intricate artistic work maintain the fine detail.

These parts were cut from Nitto coated 316 stainless steel on one of our 12kW fiber laser machines.

- Tower Storage System

Back in 2019, we installed our tower material storage system, originally holding up to 180 tonnes of steel.
In 2022, we expanded it – doubling our material capacity and giving us even more flexibility on the shop floor.
The tower now feeds directly into our 10kW fiber laser, helping us run more efficiently and even support 24/7 unmanned operation when required.

– 4-Sided Formed Treads

We formed these 5mm stainless steel stair treads on our 225-tonne press brake.

We can work directly from your drawings by importing SolidWorks STEP files straight into our system. This can help to save time and reduce errors.

- Brackets

These laser cut brackets were produced in a range of materials including copper, stainless steel and mild steel - all cut and formed in-house.

We have 4 press brakes on site, allowing us to efficiently form high volumes of smaller precision parts like these.

(They also look good when stacked all neat!!)

Feature Friday - Non-cross contamination

(As far as we know) ...We’re the only sub-contract laser provider able to cut non-ferrous materials for industries like food and chemical processing without any risk of cross-contamination.

We use dedicated, separate machine slats just for non-ferrous cutting. If a job requires it, these are swapped onto the machine so nothing carries over from previous work.

It’s a simple but critical process that gives our customers confidence when hygiene and contamination control really matter.
