Position feedback errors in a modulating loop? Check the potentiometer first. When the wiper wears or loses contact, the controller sees a position that doesn't match the valve.

Pulled a flame electrode on a mid-season service. The tip told the story. Burnt back, oxidised, gap grown beyond spec. The burner had been nuisance-tripping on flame failure and the control was getting an intermittent ionisation signal. Replacement in, clean signal, no further trips. Electrode condition is one of the quieter causes of repeated lockout, and it costs almost nothing to swap on every service visit.

The regulator set-point has to match what your burner control expects. Fit the wrong outlet pressure and you are either starving the burner at high fire or overdriving the gas valve at low fire. Work back from the burner manufacturer's inlet pressure requirement, then account for pipe losses. Droop characteristics matter as much as the nominal set-point. Siemens LMV37.400A2 Burner Management System

The Siemens LMV37.400A2 brings multiple burner-management functions together within one control platform for single-fuel forced-draught burners.

Its integrated functionality includes:
• Electronic air/fuel ratio control
• Control of up to two SQM3 or SQN1 actuators
• Integrated gas valve proving
• VSD fan control
• Modbus interface
• Connection to an AZL display or PC
• Parameter adjustment through the display or Siemens ACS410 software

For intermittent operation, the LMV37.400A2 can be used with Siemens QRA, QRB or QRC flame detectors, while continuous operation is supported when combined with an ionisation probe.

Comtherm also supplies the associated LMV37 components, including AZL operating displays, AGG3.131 connector sets and OCI410.20 PC connection leads, allowing the control package to be configured around the application.

Albion Valve Range Available from Comtherm

Sometimes you just need the right valve, in the right configuration, without spending half the morning hunting through catalogues.

We have access to the full range of Albion valves, covering ball valves, three-way valves and service valves for industrial applications.

The range includes everything from the ART40P full-bore BSPP ball valves, available from 1/4” through to 4”, through to higher-pressure ART45P valves, DZR ART50 models and ART71T three-way T-port valves. Selected products also offer WRAS and EN331 options, locking handles, thermal extensions, compression ends and press-fit connections.

Industrial process heating rarely comes in a standard format.

The Comtherm PC Burner is manufactured in the UK for low-temperature gas-fired applications across a broad range of industrial processes.

From box ovens and industrial dryers to air heaters, food ovens, printing lines, spray booths and rotary dryers, the PC range provides a proven burner platform that can be configured around the equipment and the process.

Its flexible construction allows the gas inlet, combustion fan and electrical panel to be positioned to suit the installation. Burners can also be arranged for horizontal, vertically upward or vertically downward firing, with bespoke orientations available where required.
