Ever looked at a finished electronic product and thought, “It’s just a box with some components inside”?

Think again! Inside that enclosure are PCBAs, wiring harnesses, power supplies, connectors and mechanical components that all need to work together.

That's where box-build assembly becomes much more than simply putting parts together.

Our role is to manage everything from mechanical and electrical integration to cable management, functional testing and quality control.

The inspection department… aka the place where we make sure everything’s right before it leaves us!

Alongside using inspection technology like our Mantis Inspection System and Scienscope X-Ray, we also have in-house IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 Trainers, helping keep the whole team trained and up to speed with the latest IPC standards.

It’s all part of making sure what leaves our doors is exactly what our customers expect. 👌

When you’re working with X-ray inspection equipment, safety can’t be an afterthought.

That’s why we’re pleased to congratulate Brian (aka “Frank”), who has recently completed his training to become our second 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿 (𝗥𝗣𝗦).

Our RPSs play an important role in making sure our X-ray equipment is operated safely, procedures are followed correctly and potential radiation risks are properly controlled.

Having a second trained RPS also gives us greater cover across the business, ensuring that oversight and support remain available during holidays, absence or particularly busy periods.

It’s another investment in our people that helps us maintain a safe working environment while continuing to make full use of our X-ray inspection capabilities.

𝗛𝗜𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚: we’ve currently got two opportunities to join our team in Dorchester:

⭐ 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 (𝗣𝗖𝗕) - inspecting PCB assemblies through visual inspection and AOI, working to IPC-A-610 requirements.

⭐ 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 - setting up and running our SMT equipment, from Pick and Place and printing through to reflow and inspection.

Both roles are hands-on and play an important part in keeping quality high across our PCB production.

New week, more projects making their way across the benches. 👌

A bit of hands-on PCB work to get things started, with one of our team carrying out manual soldering on an assembly.

Not every part of PCB production happens on an automated line. Some stages need a steady hand and a close eye, particularly when working around individual components and connections.

Just one of the jobs keeping the shop floor busy!

Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day. 💚

But supporting mental health and wellbeing isn’t about one day in the calendar. It’s about creating a workplace where people feel supported, recognised and comfortable speaking up when they need help.

We put that into practice in lots of ways, including Mental Health First Aid training, confidential support, team socials, recognition and time to properly switch off.

Soon Breathe HR polls will also help us check in more regularly and identify where additional support could help.

We’re looking for someone to join our Surface Mount department, working hands-on with the equipment and processes behind our PCB assemblies.

The role covers setting up and running Pick and Place machines and Surface Mount Printers, hand placement, reflow, component verification and PCB inspection, with responsibility for maintaining quality throughout production.
