Dgm_fab have been working on a project lately, a customer with a Countax B255 4wd required the largest mulching deck we could get under the machine, first thought's the run of the mill, the standard 44" version that will 100% fit?

Ok but why don't we try the 50" A-series one, well it does fit, we've redesigned the drive so the deck drive is the same as the 48" deck previously (left blade powered instead of centre drive spindle).

First results have been promising, we do have to change the drive belt arrangement but all good.

Mmm, I don't think you're supposed to be able to pick parts of the conrod out through the new inspection hole created in the side of the engine. Seen it before but not both sides of the engine 🤔

At last a couple day's down time for a rest. After an absolutely manic March with the usual onslaught of mower servicing and repairs from hibernation we're at Easter already.
A late night getting all these back to their owner's for the Easter weekend, and that was the second load!!🥵

The first of many alternative Countax/Westwood parts in the pipeline.

Rear pgc roller assemblies, UK manufactured, industrial conveyor spec. roller assemblies, bolt straight in, no modifications required, exact dimensions, for both Countax or Westwood 300 ltr powered grass collectors and the larger 390 ltr variants.

We've had these on customer machines for a season last year and have seen no reason why not to use them instead of the genuine items at a lot less cost!!

Where's the last 2 weeks gone, as the weather has slightly improved the influx of machinery for repairs and servicing for this season has fully kicked in.

So what have we had that's not quite the norm?

We've had to do a couple of Countax cutting decks, one complete refurbed 50" Combi deck and a XRD 42" cutting deck rebuild, pgc body repair, both customers had there machines supplied and cared for over the years and hopefully for many years to come.

The re-furbed deck is firstly shot blasted then coated with a etch primer to help adhesion followed by an epoxy mastic paint coating (internal) and then a Dinitrol anti-corrosion coating (internal and external) to prevent any future corrosion. We don't just stop there, complete new blade spindle bearings, idler pulleys and drive belt. And the business end a new set of cutting blades.

If this is not required but your pgc or cutting deck needs a birthday then we can do all of the above on your's if it's not gone too far!!

This week FIBRE-GLASS FRIDAY🤣

A customer had an unfortunate accident breaking the bonnet off of their aging John Deere tractor, this machine is in perfect condition for a 30 year old mower. Bonnets are available from the U.S and also from the manufacturer but they seem to be gold plated with an unknown date of supply.

Only one thing to do, plastic weld all of the pieces that we had back in place then fibreglass, filler and finally paint. We're really happy with the results....

And the quality of fuel is only getting worse, try and use E5 unleaded for all your small engines if you can👍

Getting your tools back out this spring after winter storage? Don’t forget about the fuel.

Old, stale fuel doesn’t just lose performance, it becomes acidic over time. That acidity can damage rubber fuel lines, gaskets, O-rings and internal carburettor components.

As fuel breaks down, it also leaves sticky varnish and gum deposits that clog fuel filters, lines and carburettor jets, leading to hard starting, poor running, or even costly repairs.

✅ Drain old fuel
✅ Check fuel lines and filters
✅ Refill with fresh, clean fuel
✅ Consider using a fuel stabiliser to prevent future issues

A few minutes of prep now can save hours of frustration later.

FABRICATION FRIDAY

This week we had an early C60 Mk4 ride on mower in for it's regular winter service ready for the season ahead, unfortunately the powered grass collector has suffered a little with cracking around the arms that connect the pgc to the tractor and the collector body. A prone fault that was recognised by Countax/Westwood who later would add the strengthening bracket to later collectors during manufacture. We now have these cut and folded on the shelf and can supply or retrofit these to all collectors from 2002 onwards until the pgc+ was introduced for the C/B series Countax and S/T series Westwood I'll work out a price shortly👍

We're also retofitting the steel collector net floor on to the later net assemblies to help strengthen the net when you reverse into the clippings pile. I'll also post some pics when we've finished.
