Peak season doesn’t create warehouse problems. It exposes them. ⚠️

More stock. More movements. More pressure on picking and despatch. 📦

And suddenly the little compromises that worked during quieter months become operational problems.

An aisle that was just wide enough becomes congested.
Overflow stock starts appearing where it shouldn’t.
Picking routes get longer.
Staff start improvising to reach products.
Forklifts and pedestrians cross paths more frequently. 🚧

Before the busiest part of the year arrives, it is worth walking your warehouse with a fresh pair of eyes. 👀

Ask yourself:

→ Are we using the available cube of the building effectively?
→ Are our fastest-moving products stored in the right places?
→ Are people using the correct access equipment?
→ Are pedestrian and materials-handling routes clearly separated?
→ If stockholding increased next month, where would it actually go?

The answer isn’t always more racking.

It could be better shelving, dedicated picking bays, a mezzanine, improved materials handling, safer access equipment — or simply making better use of what is already there. 🏭

It is easy to focus on the dimensions in a product listing and overlook the space needed to deliver, use and store it.

Before ordering lockers, cupboards, workbenches, trolleys, shelving or access equipment, check:

✓ The complete footprint, including open doors, handles, stabilisers or extending parts
✓ The full delivery route, including entrances, corridors, lifts and turning points
✓ Working clearance and overhead obstructions
✓ Where the equipment will be stored between uses

A warehouse move doesn’t always mean starting again.

When Lumag Ltd relocated to new premises, much of its existing pallet racking and shelving could continue to serve the business.

Led by Madi Stanton, Premier Storage dismantled the existing storage systems at Lumag’s previous premises before reinstalling them within the new warehouse.

The project is a good example of how businesses can make effective use of existing storage equipment during a warehouse move, rather than automatically replacing serviceable racking and shelving.

From an empty warehouse to a fully operational storage space. 👏

When Lumag Ltd made the decision to relocate, they didn't need to replace their existing storage equipment - they needed the right team to move it.

Led by Madi Stanton, our team managed the dismantling, relocation and reinstallation of Lumag's existing pallet racking and shelving at their new premises.

The result? Their existing equipment given a new home and a warehouse ready for operation.

We're particularly pleased that our response from the very beginning helped secure the project, with Lumag highlighting our competitive pricing and “the fast response from Madi and the team” as factors in choosing Premier Storage.

A recent office partitioning project completed for Unitas Wholesale 👷‍♂️

Led by our Project Manager, Rich Wakeley, the works involved stripping back the existing curved wall section and replacing it with a new 9m straight partition wall to create a cleaner, more practical layout.

The project included a new walnut veneered door and timber frame, matching skirting, and a tape and fill finish ready for decoration.

A relatively small alteration, but one that has made a significant difference to the space.

Another project successfully delivered by the Premier Storage Projects team.

Today officially marks Carole's last day at Premier Storage and the final day of her working life! 🎉💐

Carole has been a hugely valued member of the team, and we would like to thank her for all her hard work, support and dedication over the years. She will be greatly missed by us all.

We hope she enjoys every moment of retirement, making new memories with her family, friends and, most importantly, her amazing grandchildren ❤️

Although she is officially retiring, we’re sure she’ll still pop in to see her Premier Storage family, and perhaps help us with the occasional bit of compliance while she’s here! 😄
