Workshop measurements matter, but the final result also has to work in the actual setting. 📏

During installation, the frame, infill, fittings and clearances all need to be checked against the real space. This is where earlier design choices become visible as one finished entrance.

Here, the lower infill adds privacy, while the open decorative section above keeps the gate from feeling too closed.

The balance between privacy, proportion and detail is what changes the character of the finished gate. 🔩

A gate does not have to be fully open or fully enclosed. The design can sit between the two. ✨

On this project, the lower section creates more privacy, while the decorative scrollwork above keeps the entrance lighter and more detailed.

That balance comes from choices made before and during fabrication: the height of the infill, the spacing of the frame, the position of the scrollwork and how the finish works with the surrounding setting.

The finished gate is not separate parts placed together. It is one design where privacy, decoration and proportions need to work as a whole. 🔩

The side gate, garage door and house exterior all sit within the same frontage, so the choices made for one element affect how the whole area looks. 📏

Here, the darker finish creates a clear contrast against the brickwork, while the fuller side gate design adds privacy and gives the entrance a more defined boundary.

Before the gate has its final finish or decorative detail, the structure has to be formed correctly. 🔩

At this stage, the focus is on the frame, the joints and the alignment of the metalwork. These parts may not be the main feature in the finished photo, but they affect how the gate sits, opens and holds its shape.

Choosing metal is only the starting point 🔩

A metal gate gives you strength, security and a structure that is made to last, but that is only the beginning of the project.

Once the material is chosen, the next decisions shape how the entrance will look and feel every day.

An open design can keep the front of the property lighter and more visible.
A fuller design can add more privacy.

Once the overall look, level of privacy and decorative style have been chosen, the smaller details bring the whole design together. ✨

The proportions between the elements.

Some of these details reflect the customer’s chosen look, while others are determined during the design and fabrication process. They are considered together before fabrication begins, so the finished piece works as one complete design in its setting. 📏
