We had the pleasure of visiting the Halifax facility of today, where NOFI Engineering has been appointed to undertake the conversion of the building into new office and training facilities.

Projects like this are always rewarding to be involved in — helping to create spaces that support skills development, collaboration, and future growth.

It’s great to be part of an initiative that will provide enhanced in-house training infrastructure, enabling teams to develop and share knowledge within a dedicated environment.

A great start to 2026 — and a reminder of what can be achieved in under two weeks.

We’ve completed the demolition and removal of a second-floor mezzanine level, corridor, and four offices, taking the building back to its original grand open-plan presence while carefully retaining its period features.

Just one final wall to remove, followed by a full clean-up to complete the phase.

Yesterday I came across a person whose car had just caught fire, with flames already spreading underneath the vehicle. I used the fire extinguisher we carry in our van, but the fire grew so quickly that one extinguisher wasn’t enough to stop it.
What surprised me most was that, after signalling multiple passing trade vans — including some from well-known national companies — not one had a fire extinguisher on board.
At NOFI we make it mandatory that every direct and indirect trade carries a fire extinguisher and First Aid kit, no matter the size or type of project.
Yesterday’s incident was a powerful reminder of why this should be standard across the industry. Site and Vehicle fires can escalate in seconds, and without basic firefighting equipment, even the most willing individuals and professionals are left unable to help.
A £20 extinguisher can be the difference between assisting in an emergency and watching a situation become unmanageable.

Following six months of collaboration with planners and the highways team, we are now moving forward with the scheduled road closure at this busy junction. This marks the beginning of works to safely remove and rebuild two sections of collapsed wall, spanning over 20 meters, complete with new foundations.
