We’re proud to be sponsoring the Rock Community Hub Van Run this Sunday, 23rd August! 🚐🚚

It’s all in support of raising much-needed funds for our local primary school, and we’d love to see plenty of vehicles joining the run.

We’re encouraging all our followers, customers, suppliers and local businesses with vans, trucks, 4x4s and commercial vehicles to get involved — sign-written or not, everyone is welcome!

At JLM Composites, we believe that continuous improvement is key to delivering the very best products for our customers.

One of our latest enhancements has been the introduction of our new and improved door restrictors. Following positive feedback, we're pleased to be back on site off the coast of Dungarvan, retrofitting existing kiosks with the upgraded restrictor system as part of a planned service visit.

There's a real sense of pride in knowing that the improvements we make are recognised by our customers and that they continue to choose JLM Composites to enhance and maintain their installations.

📍 Where Did July Take Us?

As another month comes to an end, we're taking a moment to reflect on what has been a busy and rewarding July here at JLM Composites.

From manufacturing bespoke GRP kiosks and enclosures to producing chimneys, canopies and specialist composite solutions, our team has been working hard to keep projects moving across Ireland. Every delivery, installation and collection is the result of careful planning, skilled craftsmanship and the dedication of our fantastic team.

Whether it's a one-off bespoke project or a repeat order for a long-standing customer, we pride ourselves on delivering quality products and dependable service every step of the way.

🏁 Project Complete | Whiddy Island, Co. Cork 🇮🇪

Mission accomplished!

Our team is now making the journey home after successfully completing the installation of this bespoke BCAR-compliant, one-hour fire-rated GRP enclosure on behalf of our valued long-standing customer, for Irish Water.

This project was about far more than manufacturing an enclosure. It required careful planning, engineering expertise and teamwork every step of the way.

From a seven-hour journey to Bantry, ferry crossings to Whiddy Island, specialist lifting operations, restricted site access and the on-site assembly of a two-piece enclosure, every stage presented its own challenge. The finished enclosure has been completed to meet its required one-hour fire resistance rating and BCAR specification, ensuring it is ready to serve for many years to come.

One of the things we're most proud of is the teamwork behind the scenes. While our installation crew was on Whiddy Island, the team back at JLM Composites kept production moving, deliveries on schedule and customers looked after. It was a real team effort across the whole business.

A huge thank you to Cantwell for your continued trust and partnership. We always appreciate the opportunity to work together on projects like this for Irish Water.

Finally, well done to everyone involved. Another complex project delivered safely, professionally and on schedule.

🚧 Whiddy Island – On Site | Day One 🇮🇪

Today marks our first day on site on Whiddy Island, Co. Cork, where our installation team reached a major milestone by lifting our bespoke BCAR-compliant GRP enclosure into position on behalf of our client for Irish Water.

This project has required careful planning from start to finish.

While manufacturing the enclosure as a single unit would have been the simplest option, the challenge wasn't getting it to the island—it was getting it into its final location. Due to the site's access and surrounding infrastructure, it simply wasn't possible to install the kiosk in one piece.

Instead, our engineering team designed and manufactured the enclosure in two sections, allowing each half to be carefully positioned before being assembled on site. Even with this approach, the completed enclosure must still achieve its one-hour fire resistance rating to BS EN 1363-1, making this a highly specialised installation.

Projects like this are about far more than manufacturing a kiosk. Every detail has to be considered—from the logistics of working on an island, to restricted site access, lifting operations, fire performance requirements, and the harsh coastal environment.

This is where GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) really comes into its own. Its strength, durability and outstanding resistance to corrosion make it an ideal solution for demanding coastal infrastructure, helping to ensure long-term performance in environments exposed to salt air and the elements.

It's fantastic to see the collaboration between the JLM Composites installation team, our client and everyone on site. Great teamwork is what makes complex projects like this a success.
