Fresh from our workshop and already on their way: four mtu Series 4000 marine gensets have just been shipped to Astilleros ARMON, S.A.

Earlier this year, the first four made the same journey, bringing us one step closer to powering one of Europe’s most exciting ferry projects.

In total, eight 20V4000M35S units will support two fully electric fast ferries for Baleària. Starting in 2027, these vessels will travel between Tarifa and Tangier, creating the first green corridor between Europe and Africa.

Each genset delivers 2,840 kW and is built to do more than provide backup power. In critical moments, they can take over the entire propulsion system, keeping the ferries moving even when shore charging isn’t available.

Fresh off celebrating 30 years of the Trent 800 in service with the Cathay Group, it’s great to see the next chapter unfolding. Cathay Cargo has confirmed two more Airbus A350F aircraft, powered by our Trent XWB-97 engines, building on their earlier order from 2023.

For over five decades, we’ve been proud to support the Cathay Group’s journeys with engines they can count on. Now, the Trent XWB is carrying that story forward: bringing even greater efficiency and sustainability to the skies.

We’re proud to be a headline partner of the UK Global R&D and Science Investment Summit, taking place from 8 to 9 June at The Royal Society, London.

Don’t worry, it’s not a strange looking jet engine!

It’s one of our remanufactured mtu industrial engines, flying through the air on its way to the test bench to ensure its quality is as good as new.

At our mtu Reman Technology Centre in Magdeburg, Germany, we’re giving our used engines a second or even third life by completely dismantling, cleaning, repairing and reassembling them – significantly reducing our waste and emissions.

We are proud to mark 30 years of the Trent 800 powering Cathay Pacific's Boeing 777-300 Classic fleet.

This milestone reflects a rich shared history, with the Trent 800 continuing to support Cathay Pacific’s regional network, enabling connectivity between people, communities, and commerce.

It also highlights the strength of the long-standing relationship between Rolls-Royce and Cathay Pacific, underpinned by more than two million engine flying hours and 400,000 flights powered by the Trent 800 to date. It continues to deliver dependable operations as part of the wider Trent engine family powering Cathay Pacific’s Airbus A330 and A350 fleets.

We’re taking our Power Systems development in Germany to the next level!

With major investment in cutting‑edge single‑cylinder test benches at our Friedrichshafen site, we’re expanding our capabilities and building the foundation for the propulsion technologies of tomorrow, from today’s combustion engines to future fuels like methanol.

These new test benches let us measure and optimise combustion and emissions with even greater precision, speeding up development from the first idea all the way to series production for both commercial and defence applications.

We are creating a new hybrid drive system that has the potential to redefine efficiency in the mining industry.

As demand for critical minerals grows, so does the need to cut emissions from the haul trucks that keep mines running. By pairing our proven mtu Series 4000 engine technology with a high‑performance electric drivetrain, we’re aiming for up to 30% savings in fuel and CO₂ emissions.

The system captures braking energy on the way downhill, stores it in batteries, and uses it to power the wheel motors on the way back up, reducing engine load and boosting efficiency. And because every mine is different, it’s designed to adapt to various truck types, terrains, and operating conditions.
