Your car's sensors are always working to keep things running smoothly and safely! From air and fuel flow π¬οΈβ½ to engine performance βοΈ and stability control π
β’ Sensors Monitoring Air, Fuel, and Combustion:
Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor
Location: Between the air filter and the throttle body.
Function: Measures the amount of air entering the engine to adjust the air-fuel ratio.
Oxygen (O2) Sensor
Location: In the exhaust manifold and/or exhaust pipe.
Function: Monitors the level of oxygen in the exhaust gases to optimize fuel combustion.
Fuel Pressure Sensor
Location: On the fuel rail or near the fuel injectors.
Function: Measures the pressure of the fuel within the fuel rail to ensure that the engine receives the correct amount of fuel.
β’ Sensors Regulating Engine Power and Performance:
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
Location: On the throttle body.
Function: Measures the position of the throttle valve to regulate engine power.
Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor
Location: On the intake manifold.
Function: Measures the pressure inside the intake manifold to determine the engine load.
β’ Sensors Monitoring Engine Health and Safety:
Coolant Temperature Sensor
Location: Near the thermostat housing or in the engine block.
Function: Measures the temperature of the engine coolant to manage engine temperature and fuel injection.
Knock Sensor
Location: On the engine block or cylinder head.
Function: Detects engine knocking or pinging to adjust ignition timing.
Oil Pressure Sensor
Location: On the engine block.
Function: Monitors the oil pressure to ensure proper lubrication of the engine.
β’ Sensors Ensuring Vehicle Stability and Control:
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Sensor
Location: On each wheel hub.
Function: Monitors wheel speed to prevent wheel lock-up during braking.
Yaw Rate Sensor
Location: Usually under the seats or near the center of the vehicle.
Function: Measures the vehicleβs angular velocity to assist with stability control.
β’ Sensors Monitoring Tire Condition:
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor
Location: Inside each tire.
Function: Monitors the air pressure in each tire to alert the driver of low pressure.
