Hi all, I am posting this to clarify the situation about the shop and its future trading plans. As it stands the shop has been open for two and a half years, and despite trying new products and services, along with at times opening 7 days a week it is not turning over enough to be viable.
The lease on the premises ends at the end of 2026 and I must be honest with you at the current sales levels its not going to be here in 2027.
It would be easy just call it a day now, but I want to give it one last push for the next six months.
During this time I will NOT be running down stock, in fact the opposite, I will continue to try get new products that might make the shop more versatile thus saving the cost and time of going to Swindon or Cirencester.
I really do appreciate the support I have received up till now, but I can no longer afford to subsidise it indefinitely. Products are going up, sometimes twice a year, and while I try not to pass these increases on it just impacts on margins. For example I had an email yesterday saying decorating products, brushes rollers etc have gone up 6.5%
So that’s where we are. I didn’t want to just close at the end of the year and people say “we didn’t know” and “we would have used it more if we had known” all I would say is if you haven’t been in and are not sure what we offer at least come in and have a look, I’m sure you’ll be presently surprised.
Thanks to all those who do support your local businesses, and who knows maybe we can get the turnover up to a level for it to continue long into the future.
Keep Them Peeled 👀 thanks Paul.
