Transmission Dynamics

This Christmas, give their curiosity somewhere extraordinary to go.

We’re bringing Machines in Motion, our first live Christmas lecture, to The Glasshouse International Centre for Music. Expect surprising demonstrations, big questions and a humanoid robot, as we explore how centuries of invention have led to machines that can sense, respond and control their own motion.

We’ll discover how vibration can create beautiful music or cause destruction, how engineers listen to machines to understand them, and what it takes to make a robot move.

Leading the journey is Professor Jarek Rosinski, joined by the Transmission Dynamics engineering team. With 30 years of experience developing technologies used around the world, he’ll bring the science they work with every day to life on stage.

Created for ages 11–17 and their families, this is a chance to share the surprise of seeing something unexpected, understanding how it works, and wondering what else might be possible.

🗓️ Tuesday 22 December | 10:30–12:00

Zomet has been busy this week meeting the next generation of engineers.

We had a fantastic few days at Newcastle, joining exhibitors from across the region to help students discover the science, technology and engineering happening here in the North East.

The enthusiasm across the event was lovely to see, with so many students keen to get involved and try things for themselves. Zomet had no shortage of admirers, and seeing their reactions to meeting him made the week all the more enjoyable.

A huge thank you to RTC North for bringing it all together, and to the students and teachers who spent time with us!

Congratulations, Jarek!

Our Founder and Executive Chairman, Professor Jarek Rosinski, has been named a One to Watch in The LDC Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders programme for 2026, in partnership with The Times.

A particularly special moment as Transmission Dynamics approaches thirty years this November.

Jarek’s curiosity has taken the company on quite an adventure. Difficult questions, ambitious ideas and a willingness to give things a go have brought together a team whose work now reaches customers around the world.

In his words:

“The company has grown into an international engineering operation with a breadth of expertise I could scarcely have imagined at the beginning.”

For everyone who has helped build that company alongside him, there is a lot to be proud of.

A King’s Award, a place among the MacRobert Award finalists, North East Business of the Year, and now national recognition for Jarek himself. It has been quite a year.

What a night.

Transmission Dynamics has been named the North East Business of the Year 2026.

For a team of our size, building new technologies, solving difficult engineering problems and competing internationally from our home here in the North East, having that recognised in this way means a huge amount.

More than anything, though, this award belongs to the people behind the business.

Transmission Dynamics has always been shaped by a willingness to question things, explore difficult ideas, try what others might dismiss as impossible and do things a little differently. That spirit has taken us into some unexpected places over the years, and it continues to drive what we are building today.

And, because one award apparently wasn’t enough, we also came away with the Best Photo Award. We’ll let the photo explain that one.

A huge congratulations to all of the winners and finalists recognised last night. The strength and ambition of businesses across the North East was clear to see. A particularly special congratulations to OnlyCat, who won the Innovation Award.
