If your welding PPE review is overdue or your current setup doesn't cover respiratory risk the 3M Speedglas G5-01 is worth a closer look.

The G5-01 combines an auto-darkening welding helmet with the 3M Adflo powered air-purifying respirator in a single integrated unit. That means your welders get arc protection and filtered breathing air from one piece of equipment, properly designed to work together.

Welding fume has been classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the IARC since 2017. For businesses in fabrication, automotive, or heavy industry, that has direct implications for your risk assessments and PPE obligations under COSHH.

We supply the full 3M Speedglas range and can advise on the right specification for your processes. Get in touch with the Craigmore team to discuss your requirements.

If your workshop storage is a pile of mismatched boxes and half-remembered drawers, the BUNKER Load-Up Stacking System is worth a look.

The 9-piece system is designed to stack, lock, and move as a single unit — small case on top for fasteners and bits, mid-tier case for hand tools, rolling chest at the base for the heavier kit. The interlocking design means nothing shifts in transit, and the wheeled base means you're not carrying it all by hand across a site.

It's the kind of storage that actually gets used because it works the way a workshop works. Robust construction, practical layout, built-in mobility.

🚨 Serious Health Warning 🚨

Before vs. After: The stark reality of what welding fumes can do to your PAPR filter.

⬅️ Before: Clean, clear, and ready to protect. ➡️ 30 days of use: Brown, clogged, and hazardous from continuous exposure.

This isn’t just a piece of equipment—it's a lifeline. The discoloration you see is a visual testament to the toxic environment our welders face daily.

🔍 Health & Safety Managers: Are you regularly checking and replacing these filters? Are you ensuring that your team is breathing clean air?

⚠️ Take Action Now:

Inspect your PAPR filters frequently.

Replace them as needed.

Educate your team about the importance of clean filters.

Your welders' health depends on it. Don't wait for a visible warning.

We recently had a call-out for a Karcher BR 40/10 Scrubber Dryer that had broken down. It didn't take long to identify the reason for requiring a new vac motor: misuse by overfilling - burning out the motor.

To get the most out of your machines, training is essential. Where there is a turnover in employees in a role, don't forget to have retraining to minimise misuse and avoid repeated downtime... especially when hygiene is paramount.

Regular maintenance and training of new staff ensures the longevity of any machine. Get in touch for any training needs today!

A customer recently stated that one of Craigmore's best services is the welding helmet refurb programme. If you have a welder leaving and a new one starting or just need a welding PAPR system reset this service gives you peace of mind that you are continuing to protect your team from harmful fumes, light, and heat; whilst ensuring efficiency, longevity and minimising waste with your welding helmets.

Welding refurb service:

✅Inspection for damages and wear

✅Consumables such as filters, sweatbands, face seals, lenses, head covers and spark arrestors replaced

✅Hose examination to ensure clean airflow (see how 'duct-taped' this 3M Speedglas example was...)

✅Full clean

✅Complete system tested
