PINK PERFORMANCE: We were super-proud to sponsor Loughborough Lightning Women's Rugby’s special all-pink kit for their Premiership Women's Rugby (PWR) fixture against Saracens Women last weekend in aid of Breast Cancer Now.

It was fantastic to see the team start brightly and secure a bonus-point performance in the first-ever Big Pink Weekend on Sunday 31 May – and despite Lightning’s loss it was an amazing game to watch!

“We were honoured to be part of this special fixture,” said GRS Group Chairman Martin Hill. “Big Pink Weekend is a powerful initiative that brings the rugby community together to support a cause that touches so many people. By supporting this match and making a contribution to Breast Cancer Now, we hope to play our part in raising both awareness and funds.”

Supporting women in team sports and helping drive awareness for causes that matter is something we're proud of. is a cause that’s close to our hearts with GRS colleagues raising thousands of pounds each year during day.

PITCH PERFECT: With grassroots sport close to our hearts we're delighted to extend our sponsorship of Northampton Town FC's community pitch! Thousands of people - young and old - use the pitch throughout the season, making it a real asset for the whole community.

GRS Group Chief Executive Jon Fisher said: "It's great to see how much use the community pitch gets... adding tangible social value for the local community. We've been a long-time advocate of team sports at all levels and - having completed the work on the LCS East Stand last year - where better to provide support than here in Northamptonshire where we have a strong local presence."

POSITIVE OUTCOMES: We're proud to have supported a not-for-profit animal rescue and educational centre near with a donation of personal protective equipment and paving products.

Naylors Ark offers a range of outdoor activities for vulnerable young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. And with a donation of outdoor clothing and footwear, along with paving slabs for a new outdoor workshop area, GRS has been able to contribute to delivering positive outcomes for children.

Liberty Naylor from Naylor’s Ark said: “We have seen the powerful impact that therapeutic education and animal-assisted activities can have on young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs. But accessing these experiences safely requires appropriate footwear and outdoor clothing. For some families, the costs can be a barrier to participation – but thanks to GRS more students can safely access our therapeutic sessions.”

Joanne Wilkins, Managing Director of GRS Paving said: “This is such a wonderful initiative. It’s heartbreaking to think that some children aren’t able to participate due to not having the right boots and coats, and I’d delighted that we’ve been able to help out.”

CIRCULARITY SOLVED: Check out this video showcasing our flagship recycling depot in East London, transforming demolition and excavation waste into aggregates.

More than 200,000 tonnes of unwanted wastes from across Greater London are brought to our Frog Island depot near Rainham each year as part of our long-standing mission to recover as much material as possible for reuse in construction.

That helps to alleviate pressure on newly quarried primary aggregates and lessens the need for long-distance haulage, helping to reduce carbon. And residues that aren't suitable for construction are put to use in land remediation projects along the River Thames - nothing is wasted!

We have also continued to improve the site as part of an ecological programme to enhance biodiversity and connect with local habitats like Rainham Marshes - aligning with policies to support local wildlife while playing a key role in London's circular economy.

YORKSHIRE TEAM: Our colleagues in GRS Trading’s team have moved to a new office in , unlocking better customer service and a platform for further growth.

The move comes exactly 10 years after GRS opened its first office in the north of England – in a ‘portacabin’ on the outskirts of Castleford. The new aggregates and waste trading office is located in a modern mixed development at Calder Park –co-incidentally built on restored quarry land – at junction 39 of the M1 motorway and just 2 miles south of Wakefield city centre.

Grace Williams, GRS Trading General Manager for Yorkshire and the North West said: “After a decade at the old location it was definitely time for an upgrade. Calder Park is a better location in every respect, a nicer working environment, decent links by road and public transport and better local amenities. We also have space to expand, so this office can become a central hub for GRS in the north of England. I’m looking forward to seeing how we grow in the next 10 years.”

The new address is GRS Group, 2 Calder Close, Calder Park, Durkar, Wakefield WF4 3BA. The phone number [01924 220988] and email address [[email protected]] remain the same.

Pictured at the official opening event are members of GRS Trading's Yorkshire team (left- right): Owen Frow – External Trader; Harris Dews – Internal Trader; Sophie Burke – Internal Trader; Grace Williams – General Manager; yvette bailey – Managing Director for GRS Trading; Bianca van Niekerk – Sales Manager; Harrison Galdas-Smith – Internal Trader; and Jack Williams – Transport Coordinator.

SOIL & THE CITY: We recently supported a community garden project in with a donation of premium .

In partnership with John Sisk & Son Ltd we supplied topsoil to Grange Community Centre in Beswick as part of a community health and wellbeing initiative run by the City.

The project aims to help improve physical and mental health – a subject close to our hearts at GRS – by encouraging members of the local community to get involved in outdoor, nature-based activities.

Jim, a volunteer at The Grange, thanked GRS for the donation: “The soil is already being put to great use by volunteers, carers and local people of all ages and backgrounds. We really value the work done by John Sisk and their partners including GRS.”

James Maiden, GRS Trading Sales Manager for the North West Region said: “This is a great community project and we were delighted to get involved thanks to our friends at Sisk, especially since social value is an important part of our approach to business.”

GREEN ENERGY: We’re proud to announce that we’re now running our business on green electricity from renewable sources, thanks to our partnership with Enava Energy.

As a national construction materials group operating multiple sites and offices across the UK, restructuring our electricity usage around renewable supply was a major undertaking.

Enava worked with us to consolidate contracts, negotiate competitive agreements and deliver a streamlined, future-focused energy strategy.

Now, on sites where we have electricity supplier control, our operations and offices are powered by sources such as wind and solar, ensuring that energy procurement actively contributes to our Roadmap to Net Zero.
