A Night Owl leaving Woodway isn’t the end of the journey – far from it.

Every mast system we build is fully soak tested before leaving our facility, backed by warranty, and supported by a team who’ve been working with these systems for decades.

And while the Night Owl has built a reputation for reliability, operational equipment works hard – which is why we continue to support customers with diagnostics and repairs long after installation.

In fact, we regularly see Night Owl systems still operating out in the field after 10, 15, even 20+ years of service.

Whether it’s routine maintenance, troubleshooting, or helping keep fleet downtime to an absolute minimum, supporting customers for the long haul has always been a key part of what Night Owl is about.

Es**rt vehicles operate in environments where visibility is everything.

Whether managing rolling roadblocks, supporting abnormal loads and oversized transport, or protecting other road users around difficult manoeuvres, these vehicles need warning lighting that’s impossible to miss and reliable enough to perform in all conditions.

From compact beacons and directional lighting through to full amber warning setups, we work with fleets and vehicle builders across the es**rt sector to supply solutions designed for long hours, tough environments, and constant roadside exposure.

Because in this line of work, being clearly seen isn’t just important – it’s the job.

Always good to see the team from DCS Logistics Abnormal Load Es**rt Service here at Woodway... if only just to sneak a photo or five whilst they're busy talking business!

I-ONestly think these lightheads are one of the most versatile products in the Whelen range😅

This setup from Trek Group makes great use of the Whelen ION lightheads around the perimeter of the vehicle. They’re compact, powerful, and easy to integrate cleanly across all kinds of applications – and keeping this building looking smart all round.

Right then – that’s us clocked off for the Bank Holiday weekend!

But while the Woodway team are off enjoying (another!) long weekend, you needn’t worry – our brand new website is very much open for business.

After months of work behind the scenes, the new Woodway website is now live – giving customers access to an improved online experience, easier product browsing, and online ordering 24/7.

So whether you’re on shift this weekend, planning ahead for the next project, or just having a nosy whilst everyone else argues over who burnt the BBQ sausages, here’s the link:

We’ll be back in the office from 8am on Tuesday – see you then!

Motorsport response vehicles operate in an environment unlike almost any other emergency setting.

High speeds. Split-second decisions. Multiple moving vehicles. Live incident scenes.

Ahead of the current BTCC season, the TOCA Safety Team introduced a complete refit of emergency lighting across its fleet - working with Frontline Fleet to create a more coordinated, visible, and operationally effective response setup.

Using Whelen Liberty II lightbars integrated through Whelen’s Core®, the fleet now benefits from synchronised warning patterns designed to reduce visual chaos and create a clearer response environment during incidents.

We’ve taken a closer look at the thinking behind the project, the role of coordinated emergency lighting in motorsport, and why visibility matters so much in high-speed response environments.

As we’re gearing up for another busy events season – we’ve found ourselves looking back at some of last year’s exhibitions and spotted a few glorious show vehicles along the way.

This police dog unit from Victory Conversions was one worth revisiting.

Clean, purposeful, and topped off with a Whelen Justice lightbar – a seriously good-looking setup for a working vehicle that needs to balance visibility with practicality day in, day out.

One of the many advantages of designing and building products here in the UK is the ability to tailor them to the way our customers actually work.

This Night Owl, heading back into service with Leicester Police, has been configured with an additional, wireless handset – allowing scene lighting to be controlled from up to 60 metres away from the vehicle.

For specialist applications like collision investigation, that extra flexibility can make a real difference on scene.

Not every Night Owl needs it. Not every customer wants it. But designing systems that are able to adapt to suit specific operational requirements is a big part of our how we’ve continuously developed our Night Owl range over several decades.

Great work as ever from the team at Angloco.

Built for Humberside Fire & Rescue Service, these Water and Specialist Response Units have been designed around the operational needs of the crews using them – exactly how specialist vehicles should be approached.

Projects like this are always a good example of what strong collaboration looks like. Vehicle builder, suppliers and end user all working closely together to make sure the finished result performs exactly as required when it matters most.

Blue warning lighting isn’t something anyone can just quick buy online – and there’s a very good reason for that.

In the UK, the use of blue lights is restricted to authorised emergency service applications. These systems are designed for genuine emergency response environments, where vehicle visibility, instant recognition, and public response all play a critical role in operational safety.

Put simply: when a vehicle displaying blue lights approaches, the public need to trust that it’s legitimate.

That’s why access to blue lighting products on our website is controlled. We require proof that customers purchasing blue lighting will be fitting and using it on authorised emergency vehicles only.

You’re still able to browse the products online, compare options, and explore specifications – but to add to your basket and purchase blue products, your account will need the relevant permissions enabled first.

If you’re an existing authorised user, our team can upgrade your online account to allow you to purchase quickly and easily 24/7. If you’re new to Woodway and looking for blue lighting products – you can email us with proof of your requirement for authorisation.

And if you want to understand more about the regulations surrounding blue warning equipment, you can read our article here: https://woodwayengineering.com/understanding-blue-light-regulations-in-the-uk/

We recently had this Ford Ranger Wildtrak in from MAG Airports, supporting operations at East Midlands Airport. Amongst some of the more typical products we install day to day, this job included the installation of a roof-mounted bird scarer system.

Projects like this are always a good reminder that no two installs are quite the same. From bespoke bracket design through to final positioning and setup, it’s all about working closely with the customer to make sure the finished result does exactly what it needs to do.

“Ooo that looks amazing! Sterling job – the team will be very happy!!!”

Safe to say the initial feedback from Lou and the team really made our day. A cracking bit of teamwork all round from everyone involved.
