Today, this International Men's Day, we're shining a light on the conversations that matter, the ones that help people feel supported, understood and able to be themselves.

One of the spaces making this possible is our Men's Engagement Network (M.E.N), an employee-led community focused on men's mental health, physical health, appreciation, and open, honest discussions around identity and masculinity. It's a community for everyone, built on understanding and support, wherever you are in your journey.

🎤 This year, the M.E.N team produced 10 podcast episodes featuring voices from across Cadent, alongside partners like Andy's Man Club, Fatherhood Solutions and Orchid.
Real stories, real challenges and real moments of connection.

⛰ A team of 35 colleagues also completed the Three Peaks Challenge in just 24 hours, raising an incredible £27,000 for Orchid, a charity supporting thos affected by male cancers. Their teamwork and determination say so much about the quiet heroes who make up our workforce.

International Men's Day is a moment to recognise the pressures men can face, the strengths they bring, and the importance of taking care of every aspect of wellbeing. But at Cadent, these conversations and connections continue long after today - driven by our people and our commitment to supporting one another.

Because everyone deserves a place to belong. Learn more about our employee-led communities here, https://bit.ly/44kbpS9 💛

Every day, our engineers step into homes not knowing what they’ll find - but always ready to protect the people behind every door.

This Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week, we’re shining a light on one of our quietly confident heroes: Abu, Emergency Lead Engineer, based in our North West network.

When David’s CO alarm went off in the early hours of the morning, he did the right thing and made the call to the National Gas Emergency number, and Abu was dispatched straight away.

The moment he arrived, Abu spotted signs of carbon monoxide and took quick, decisive action to keep David and everyone else in the apartment block safe. David was taken to the hospital and later said:

“There is no doubt Abu saved my life. I have six children… Without his quick actions, my children wouldn’t have a father.”

We’re incredibly proud of Abu and of every single one of our colleagues who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.

If you ever suspect carbon monoxide, please call the National Gas Emergency number: 0800 111 999*.

Today, on the 11th hour, colleagues from across our network came together to honour Remembrance Day. A moment to reflect on the bravery and sacrifice of all those who have served in wars and military conflicts since the First World War.

We reflect on the courage and dedication of our historical gas workers; a legacy of resilience and pride that continues to inspire our network today.

We’re proud of our history and we honour those who came before us, who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Thank you to everyone who joined remembrance services and shared moments of reflection across our network. Your support and togetherness remind us of the strength in our communities.

Meet Bonnie & Jeff: Cadent’s New STEM Heroes!

Ahead of National STEM Day, we welcomed some very special guests, the children of our Cadent colleagues, to celebrate the launch of our brand-new comic, “Bonnie and Jeff: The Cosmic Cape Capers”! 💫

The story follows young inventor Bonnie and her robo-cat sidekick Jeff as they embark on cosmic adventures designed to inspire curiosity and confidence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) for children across the UK.

Created in partnership with Bonanza Creative, the comic and in-school workshops will make STEM learning fun through storytelling and hands-on activities.

The characters were inspired by the imagination of Bonnie Powers, daughter of our colleague Nina Powers, showing that innovation starts with a question, and that everyone belongs in STEM.

Our Ansty office was filled with excitement as our mini STEM heroes joined us for a special reading of the comic, a behind-the-scenes site tour, and a cape-creating workshop fit for future inventors! 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

A huge thank you to our Women in STEM community and our partners at Bonanza Creative for helping us bring this idea to life.

As we celebrate National STEM Day, we’re proud to help inspire the next generation of engineers and problem-solvers of tomorrow.

We’ve been sharing stories this week that celebrate some of our incredible colleagues who’ve each dedicated 50 years to keeping gas flowing and communities safe. 🔥

Today, it’s Paul's turn.

Half a century on the tools, and he's still loving it.

Paul joined the gas industry just before his 17th birthday, when engineers travelled by bike with their toolboxes.

Fast forward five decades, and he is still out there helping customers and mentoring others across our East of England network.

From cutting off the gas to football legend Paul Gascoigne (yes, really!) to now supporting some of our most vulnerable customers as part of our Services Beyond the Meter team, Paul’s journey is one built on pride, progress, and purpose.

Because Life at Cadent isn’t just about the work we do - it’s about the people who make it happen. 💛

A huge thanks to Paul for 50 years of dedication and care.

Yesterday we celebrated Dave - today, it’s Gary White’s turn to step into the spotlight after 50 incredible years of keeping our communities safe and connected. 💛

This week, we’re sharing the stories of three colleagues who’ve each reached the incredible milestone of 50 years of service. Today, we head to our North West Network to meet Gary White, whose journey began in 1975, when the gas industry looked very different to the one we know today.

“Every town had a gas works or a gas holder,” Gary recalls. “Most big towns even had a gas showroom – it was a different world.”

From the days of town gas to the era of digital networks, Gary’s career charts a half-century of progress, purpose, and pride. Along the way, he’s picked up a few brilliant stories, including two ‘claims to fame’ that always raise a smile:

“I’m partially responsible for how the gas industry is now… and I was also involved in cutting off the gas supply to the original Coronation Street!”

Five decades on, Gary’s dedication continues to power the everyday lives of millions - a shining example of the reliable energy and human spirit that define Cadent.

Three careers. Fifty years each. Countless stories to tell... starting with Dave Lindsay.

We’re shining a spotlight this week on three amazing colleagues who’ve each dedicated 50 years to Cadent (and the companies that came before us).

First up is Dave Lindsay, who’s hanging up his PPE and heading into a well-earned retirement - but not before slipping back into those classic Eastern Gas overalls for one last photo!

When The Stylistics were topping the charts and a pint cost just 20p, Dave was starting out as an apprentice, learning the ropes in a very different world of gas engineering. Back then, it was all paper maps and landlines, today, it’s digital systems and 24/7 connectivity.

Across five decades, one thing has never changed: Dave’s pride in his work, his calm under pressure, and his commitment to keeping gas flowing safely to millions of homes.

As he hangs up his overalls, we want to say a huge thank you, Dave, for 50 years of dedication, teamwork and brilliant service.

Wishing you all the very best in retirement 👏

When Emma first joined Cadent 21 years ago as a temporary administrative assistant, she could never have imagined the journey ahead. What started as a short-term role has become a career filled with growth and opportunity, achieving four promotions and now thriving as a Network Asset Engineer for the East Midlands network. 🙌

Emma's role is highly technical, leading the creation and delivery of our above 7bar network asset management plans and balancing cost, risk and performance. Living with a progressive physical disability doesn’t limit her opportunity, thanks to practical support, technology, and an understanding network around her. From speech-to-text software that allows her to work independently, to the flexibility of working from home where the technology is most effective, Emma can carry out her role without barriers.

But support isn't just about technology, it comes from people too. Through her manager and our Thrive community, Emma has a network that listens, adapts, and provides solutions whenever new challenges arise.

Now, Emma is using her voice to help others. By sharing her experiences through Thrive, she’s supporting colleagues with disabilities and helping to shape a workplace where everyone has the tools, access, and encouragement to thrive. 🌟

For Emma, inclusion means: “I am recognised and valued for my knowledge and experience, fostering a strong sense of belonging.” 🗣️

Her story is a powerful reminder that inclusion at Cadent is more than a value – it’s something we put into action every day.

Meet our Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Team! 🤝

This , we're shining a spotlight on the people behind the scenes, driving inclusion, belonging and fairness across Cadent.

As our ED&I Manager, Ellie has 8 years of experience at Cadent, 4 of those in ED&I. She's working on projects to improve our culture and the fairness of internal processes, and collaborating with teams across the business to bring our ED&I initiatives to life. 👏

Danielle is our SEND Specialist, who supports our neurodiverse colleagues and leaders in creating environments where everyone can thrive. With a background in teaching, she brings a wealth of experience in supporting others. 💫

As ED&I Advisor, Rebecca challenges cultural ways of thinking and provides expert guidance across the business. Rebecca is helping lead our seven employee communities, making sure everyone has a voice and a space to belong. 🌟

Finally, Rachel is a Future Professional in HR, who brings creativity and empathy from her Art and Design background into the world of inclusion. She's passionate about people, culture and finding new ways to help others feel seen and supported. 🙌

Together, they're building a workplace where everyone feels they truly belong. 🧡

Daniel’s journey with neurodiversity began at home, when his son was going through the process of being diagnosed with ADHD. Already living with Tourette Syndrome, Daniel began to notice similar traits from his son, in himself. With Cadent's support, he was referred for an official diagnosis, opening the door to resources that have made a huge difference. 🌟

Since then, Daniel has been able to access a range of support. His Tourette’s can cause painful muscle issues in his back and shoulders, and through occupational health, he’s been receiving physiotherapy to relieve this. He has also found tools like the WellHub app useful, supporting his passion for health and fitness. 🧘

But what’s mattered the most is the empathy and understanding he’s felt from the team around him.

“I’ve also felt genuine understanding from my colleagues and managers. Small adjustments make a huge difference in allowing me to work at my best without added pressure.” Daniel shares. 🗣️

As we mark , Daniel’s story show’s what inclusion looks like in action, receiving the right support, meaningful adjustments and a workplace where people can thrive as their true selves. 🙌

We’re proud of Daniel and proud to be building a culture where everyone feels included, every day. 🧡
