THE BARREL ROLLS IN TO SEAL IT! 🛢️⚽🦅
Bedworth Eagles travelled to Fillongley looking to return to winning ways in the league against an RS Sports Reserves side fresh from victory over FISSC.
Despite playing up the hill and into the wind, Eagles were the better side in a cagey first half. Crouchy saw an effort cleared off the line before Hoban struck the crossbar from 30 yards. The breakthrough came just before half-time when Connor Wood's long ball sent Logan in behind to win a penalty. Joejoe Wilson stepped up and calmly converted to make it 1-0 ⚽️
Eagles continued to apply pressure after the break but couldn't find a second goal. RS capitalised as the game wore on, equalising in the 80th minute after injuries forced Eagles into changes, including a change of goalkeeper.
However, Eagles had the final say. Big George Essuman won a free kick with a minute remaining, Joejoe delivered a superb ball into the box and Rio Rutherford forced a good save with his header. Matty “The Barrel” Atherton reacted quickest to fire home the rebound and secure a dramatic and well deserved 2-1 victory! ⚽️
🏆 Man of the Match: George Woolley; A tireless performance from George, who worked his socks off all afternoon and showed real quality whenever he had the ball.
A battling performance from all the lads, capped off by a deserved three points and a dramatic late winner. Up the Eagles! 🦅
