Our 2026 prices for our 12 point major service are for small hand propelled lawnmowers £50.00. For medium to large self propelled lawnmowers £70.00. These prices are inclusive of oil and service parts. We only use specified lubricants and quality parts. There is no VAT to pay. Please see what our major service entails below. ROTARY LAWNMOWER SERVICE SCHEDULE.
Flush clean petrol fuel tank. Check condition of rubber fuel pipe.
Strip and clean the carburettor.
Remove ignition coil module & clean contacts & clean flywheel magnets.
Clean engine cooling fin’s and remove debris from underside.
Drain and refill engine lubricating oil.
Remove and fit new spark plug.
Service/replace engine air filter as necessary.
Check and replace recoil starter cord and service the mechanism.
General tighten of component’s including exhaust system.
Lubricate and adjust all control cables and handle controls as necessary.
Remove and clean out the drive belt guard.
Resharpen cutting blade. Test run to working temperature & set max RPM to specifications
using Esso E5 Fuel.

Tangerine Dream Husqvarna Commercial Mulcher. Lawnmower in for a Major service and TLC today. Engine running poor and hunting / surging which is a common problem especially with Honda engines like this one is. It is mostly caused by it having a blocked pilot jet which can sometimes be difficult to clear but we don’t give up and neither does our ultrasonic cleaner machine. The cutting blade is passed it’s best but we were able to give it a balance / redesign and resharpen to get some more hours service and save the expense of a new blade. We only use specified Honda engine oil with an appropriate zinc content in Honda engine’s like this GCV170 and others, it is recommended to prevent premature wear and failure of the decompressor mechanism. Nice variety coming into the workshop this week. Mainly lawnmowers for servicing and repair. Seems a little strange to carry out summer hibernation preparation but the customer will not be using his log splitter for a few months so we have given it a full service and flushed out the petrol pump fuel and used Aspen 4 to save all that ethanol damage malarkey. It is claimed that Aspen 4 fuel can keep for many years and is good to go at any time the machine is required, pity it is so expensive. Something a little different in between the lawnmowers today. A Rock machinery tree stump grinder powered by a Briggs and Stratton engine. Unfortunately it had been in hibernation for a little while with the petrol left in and required a full fuel system flush out and service. Our ultrasonic cleaner has been very busy of late with many lawnmowers coming out of their winter hibernation period with the same complaint. A rare beast in the workshop today for some TLC. Toro recycler 55CM. Automatic intelligent drive system 4 wheel drive with supercharged vortex technology collection performance powered by a Briggs & Stratton 675 Exi instart engine. This reminds me of the advert for a German car where they quote “ Vorsprung durch technik” but this machine is made in USA if you can believe that?

1970’s Stihl chainsaw that had not been running for many years came to us to work our magic this week. It was a bit of a stinker as the old fuel was still present and had gone off, we worked through the usual items that needed attention with extra special attention to the fuel system and it readily struck back into life. We sharpened the chain and carried out final adjustment’s and it is ready to go and serve another 50 odd year’s service. We had 2 Hayter 41 lawnmowers to service and sharpen a Weibang 48 to repair that had come into contact with a old linen line post “OUCH” A Mountfield to service and repair ready for the spring and Rotavators to service and make good ready for hard labour in the year ahead. Situation normal here at small engine central. Not sure if I am enjoying the cold weather but I suppose that we will soon be complaining that it is to hot and the grass won’t stop growing. We have started the year with some mowers and blowers, chainsaw’s and strimmer’s and a couple of commercially used and abused Honda Izy’s that came in on life support to make them well again.
