It’s been a tough week for Ferrari. The reveal of their all-new EV has been met with criticism and massive stock-market instability. Over £3 billion of the brand’s value was wiped out just hours after the car’s release, despite recruiting design icon Sir Jonny Ive, of iPhone fame, to work on the project.
But the share price is only one thing. The stinging words of former chairman Luca di Montezemolo landed with the type of passion only the launch of an EV Ferrari could generate.
When asked his opinion, di Montezemolo said that the Luce could destroy the “myth” surrounding the brand, and that if he were to share his own true opinion, he might “harm Ferrari”. He finished his remarks with a desperate plea, hoping that Ferrari would “remove the prancing horse from that car”.
The Luce is undeniably a technical marvel. Four individual motors generate over 1,000 BHP, propelling the 2.2-tonne family Ferrari to 62 MPH in just 2.5 seconds, while also achieving a 330-mile range.
What’s your opinion on this nearly half-million-pound EV?
