Lorraine is one of our longest serving team members and this year marks an incredible 30 years with KRG Specialist Engineering. She is our Sales Administrator and is often the first point of contact for customers and buyers, both externally and internally.

Lorraine manages all incoming enquiries, ensuring everything is organised and ready for the sales team to review. Once approved, she creates the internal reference numbers for each part, loads quotes and supports the smooth processing of orders. Her role sits at the centre of many internal relationships and plays a key part in keeping work moving efficiently across the business.

Lorraine originally joined KRG as an office junior and has since worked across accounts, purchasing, sales and reception. That breadth of experience brings valuable continuity and understanding to the role and the wider team. She still provides reception cover when required.

Outside of work, Lorraine enjoys hillwalking, gym classes and reading. She is a regular library visitor and a keen reader.

We would like to thank Lorraine for her 30 years of service and the experience, commitment and reliability she brings to KRG Specialist Engineering.

📅 Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2026

Scottish Apprenticeship Week is an opportunity to recognise the importance of developing skills and investing in the next generation.

Since KRG Specialist Engineering was founded, we have supported more than 100 apprentices through their training and into long term careers in engineering. Many have gone on to build successful futures within our business and across the wider sector.

We know that the future of our industry depends on skilled, committed engineers. That is why apprenticeships remain central to our approach. They provide real responsibility, hands on experience and the opportunity to work with advanced manufacturing technology from the outset.

For a business operating within the defence/oil & gas and advance manufacturing supply chain, skills development is about more than recruitment. It is about safeguarding capability, strengthening sovereign manufacturing capacity and ensuring resilience within the UK’s industrial base.

Investing in apprenticeships strengthens our workforce, supports Scotland’s engineering sector and contributes to the long-term health of the wider economy.

Thank you to our apprentices for the commitment they show every day, and to the experienced members of our team who mentor and guide them throughout their development.

We’re proud to share that Ashton Hughes has joined the business, becoming the third generation of his family to work at KRG.

Founded in 1978 by James Hughes, the company has grown from a small family-run workshop into one of Lanarkshire’s leading precision engineering firms, while remaining firmly rooted in Coatbridge.

Ashton is starting his career in the same way many of our team have over the years, learning hands on in the workshop and developing his skills from the ground up alongside our experienced engineers.

This milestone reflects what KRG has always stood for. Investing in people, passing on specialist skills, and supporting the next generation within our local community.

As we look ahead to the year to come, moments like this remind us why long-term thinking and strong foundations matter.

Happy New Year from everyone at KRG.

At KRG Specialist Engineering, community matters, and so does coming together for something bigger than ourselves.Recently, colleagues from KRG and our wider family at Torishima joined forces to support the incredible work of The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice.

It was more than a volunteer day. It was a reminder of the impact compassion and connection can have on people who need support the most.

Being part of the Torishima Group means being part of a culture where helping others is woven into how we work.

Supporting the Hospice brings out the best in all of us.Charities like The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice rely on people coming together.

Every hour volunteered and every task completed genuinely makes a difference.

We are proud to stand beside the Hospice and to support the dignity, care and compassion they provide each day.

Thank you to everyone from KRG and Torishima who took part. Your kindness matters.

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We shall remember them. “
