"I don't care if these are made of cardboard, plastic, fancy boxes or whatever, as long as the parts are here when I come over to get them, that's all I want."
That was a conversation Stephen, the founder of TwinBin, had with a fitter while installing one of the early inventory systems. And it really stuck with him. That's why we're sharing it more than 20 years on. Because at the end of the day, it wasn't about creating the fanciest, most complicated bin system or adding technology for the sake of it.
It was simply about making sure the parts were there when people needed them. That conversation became Stephen's mantra and helped shape the thinking behind TwinBin.
Not long after, an existing LinBin landed on his table one evening. Stephen turned it on its end and started thinking differently about the divider...
What if it became a slide?
What if stock could be separated into two batches?
What if accessing the second batch could clearly show that replenishment was needed?
That idea eventually became TwinBin.
And nearly 25 years later, the principle behind TwinBin is still the same as that conversation Stephen had all those years ago: When someone needs a part, it needs to be there.
