At Shenley Wood and Lovat Fields Retirement Villages in Milton Keynes, ageing timber balconies needed a safer, longer-lasting replacement.

Working with The ExtraCare Charitable Trust and First in Service, Dura delivered a fully non-combustible aluminium decking and unique substructure solution across both occupied retirement communities.

Using Dura Deck® Aluminium and d² Quickspan® Beam, the project achieved:

✅ Improved fire safety compliance
✅ Reduced maintenance requirements
✅ Faster, lower-disruption installation
✅ Enhanced slip resistance and durability
✅ Lower material use with improved spanning capability

A strong example of how remediation projects can improve safety, performance and resident experience at the same time.

📢 We're exhibiting at TransCityRail Scotland next week!

With major change across the rail sector, now is the time to rethink how infrastructure is designed, delivered and maintained.

At Dura, we provide low-carbon GRP walkway and access solutions that support safer, more efficient rail projects with long-term performance built in.

Come and talk to us about delivering more sustainable infrastructure.

Environmental transparency is now essential across infrastructure projects.

At Dura, we design and manufacture composite walkway and access systems supported by third-party verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).

Our products provide embodied carbon data for specification, whole-life carbon assessment and Scope 3 reporting.

The d² range is carbon-engineered by design, fully repurposable at end of use, and supported by lifecycle assessment data aligned to recognised international standards.

Clear data drives smarter, lower carbon infrastructure decisions.

Our teams have been busy out and about this week!

Our Client Success Team joined industry conversations at UKREiiF, while our Marine team attended the TYHA Code of Practice event.

As a UK manufacturer of GRP and non-combustible aluminium walkway systems for rail, high-rise, power, marine and infrastructure environments, these events are a valuable opportunity to connect with partners, share insight and discuss the future of lower carbon infrastructure.

At Dura, we’re focused on delivering high-performance access solutions across both GRP and aluminium systems, while continuing to drive innovation in closed-loop GRP repurposing, helping reduce landfill and lower embodied carbon across infrastructure projects.

Great to see our teams representing Dura and continuing these important conversations across the industry 👏

📢 We’ll be exhibiting at RIN Glasgow on Thursday 21 May

On stand G6, we’ll be bringing the technology behind our composite walkway systems to life, including TrackGlo, our LED walkway lighting solution. Expect a practical look at how these systems are designed to deliver safer access, long service life and more sustainable performance across demanding rail environments.

See you there!

We’re proud to share that Dura Composites has been honoured with an incredible fourth King’s Award for Enterprise, this time for Sustainability 🎉

This recognition means a great deal to us. It reflects how our manufacturing is evolving, with circular thinking becoming a core part of how we design and build.

Our focus is on giving materials a longer life by repurposing them into durable, engineered solutions that reduce environmental impact over time.

This award follows previous recognition for International Trade in 2017 and Innovation in 2020 and 2024. It shows our continued commitment to developing smarter and more sustainable ways of working.

From our headquarters in Essex, we’re supporting local jobs while delivering projects across the UK and internationally.

Thank you to our team, partners and clients for supporting what we believe is a better, more responsible way to build for the future.

What does meaningful community impact look like on a major infrastructure project?

For High Speed Two Limited (HS2 Ltd) it means going beyond construction - reducing disruption, listening to communities, and giving something back.

Supporting Balfour Beatty VINCI in delivering HS2’s community commitments, Dura Composites was proud to contribute to the Community Investment programme at Ward End Wellbeing Centre.

The centre is a vital local hub, supporting wellbeing, inclusion and connection. To enhance accessibility, Dura designed, fabricated and supplied a new public access ramp, helping ensure the space is safe and welcoming for everyone.

Manufactured off-site at our SmartFAB facility, the prefabricated GRP ramp minimised disruption to a busy community setting. Built using our low embodied carbon d² components, it delivers a lightweight, durable solution that is fully recyclable at end of life.

A simple intervention, but one that delivers lasting value for the community it serves.

We’re proud to support BBV in turning HS2’s community commitments into real, tangible outcomes.

A defining moment for Dura

We’re proud to unveil our new brand identity, marking the next chapter in Dura’s 30-year journey.

This is more than just a new look. Our new brand identity reflects the evolution of how we design, manufacture and think about infrastructure materials.

For decades, composite walkways have been built to last — but ultimately treated as waste. Today, that changes.

With our world-first closed-loop GRP repurposing process, we are now able to recover, process and reintroduce materials back into our manufacturing cycle. The result is a continuous lifecycle for composite infrastructure — reducing landfill, lowering carbon and strengthening long-term resource efficiency.

This innovation underpins our ambition to manufacture the lowest carbon walkway systems in the world, without compromising on the performance our customers rely on.

Working within a World Heritage setting demands materials that respect the past while performing for the future.

At Llangollen’s Four Great Highways project, our GRP access solutions helped improve pedestrian connectivity to Llangollen Wharf and Lower Dee Mill Park, all within a sensitive riverside environment next to the Grade I listed Llangollen Bridge.

✅ Stepped access delivered using d² Dura Slab Structural Stair Treads
✅ Ramped access delivered using d² Dura Grating 53mm Solid Top in Dark Grey
✅ Discreet appearance, high slip resistance and long-term durability in wet, high‑footfall conditions

The result is safer, more inclusive access that blends seamlessly into the historic public realm, without compromising on longevity or maintenance demands.

A great example of how modern composite solutions can support heritage-led regeneration.

At Dura, we’re redefining riser safety with low-carbon, fire-rated GRP riser void systems.

Unlike traditional methods, our voids are fully covered at the point of installation, helping eliminate fall risks while improving site efficiency. Services can be cut in-situ without removing cover plates or adjusting supports, and the system allows precise, millimetre-by-millimetre adjustments.

From design to supply and installation, our experienced site supervisors ensure safe, consistent delivery every time.
