500+ years. One team.

Last week, we held our annual Long Service Awards to recognise the colleagues whose dedication has shaped our business.
Nearly 100 guests joined us for the evening, including four colleagues with more than 40 years of service and 15 with more than 25 years of service.

Together, our award recipients represent more than 500 years of experience, expertise and loyalty. Their contribution has been fundamental to our success.

Congratulations to all of our award recipients, and thank you.

🐄 Building farm facilities?

Farm slabs carry heavy loads every day, from livestock to HGVs. Steel mesh has long been the default, but synthetic macro fibre reinforced concrete is now a strong alternative:
✅ Reinforcement is premixed, so there's no mesh to place by hand
✅ Faster installation and less labour on site
✅ Better value over the life of the project
✅ A safer choice for livestock

Our cement team is attending the Precast & Masonry Expo today, where sustainability and low-carbon construction are high on the agenda.

It’s a great opportunity to discuss evoZero®, our near-zero-carbon cement, and how it can help reduce embodied CO₂ emissions in precast applications.

We look forward to connecting with visitors and continuing the conversation.

Driving circularity and regenerative design

At RD26, Heidelberg Materials is partnering with Architecture Today to help lead the conversation on how circularity, biodiversity and closed-loop design can transform the built environment.

Elliot Wellbelove, our Head of Circularity, is hosting a roundtable with industry leaders to explore critical questions:

• How can we shift mindsets from short-term cost to long-term value?
• How can we prevent circular products from being replaced by conventional, carbon-intensive alternatives?
• How can we design for disassembly and material recovery beyond a building’s operational life?
• What are the regulatory barriers?

By sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration, we’re working with the wider construction industry to shape practical, sustainable solutions that reduce environmental impact and support a resilient, low-carbon future.

Thank you, Highways UK 2026 👏

It was a pleasure to attend the event at the NEC in Birmingham and connect with industry professionals from across the sector. The event provided a valuable opportunity to discuss our products and solutions, explore emerging opportunities and engage in important conversations about the future of sustainable construction and infrastructure.

Thank you to everyone who visited us at Stand K35, took part in our quiz and shared their perspectives with our team.

We would also like to congratulate Rachel Morse on delivering an insightful seminar on “How hydrogen can lower the carbon footprint of asphalt”, highlighting the potential role of hydrogen in supporting the decarbonisation of our industry.

We look forward to continuing these conversations and developing new partnerships in the months ahead.

Congratulations to maintenance engineering apprentice Jak Henson who has reached the national finals of this year’s WorldSkills UK competition.

WorldSkills UK is partnership between education, industry and UK governments aimed at driving up technical skills, investment in jobs and economic growth.

Jak, pictured on the right, is completing his apprenticeship at our Ketton cement plant in Rutland where his dad Karl is also an engineer.

He prepared for the qualifiers by working through past WorldSkills UK challenges under competition conditions with support from his tutor at Tresham College in Northamptonshire.

Jak was described as having a natural ability to solve problems and excelling on his programme, particularly when working on practical tasks.

The WorldSkills UK National Finals will be held at University of Wales Trinity Saint David in Swansea from 18-19 November.
