We couldn’t come up with a strong caption for this photo.

Because our client already wrote one for us: “They work ‘with’ you instead of for you and their after-sales care is second to none.”

That’s how Glen Leatherbarrow, Business Development Manager at Ultegra Services, described working with Metrotile during the renovation of 47 Cornish Units in Normanton.

Our work doesn’t end with supplying the roofing materials. After-sales support includes technical guidance on installation, clarification of specifications and recommendations, assistance for contractors directly on-site, and prompt resolution of technical issues that may arise during installation.

No big slogans. Just consistent, reliable support at every stage of the project. See for yourself: https://www.metrotile.co.uk/

“The Heat Is On” — that song title feels especially literal this summer. ☀️

As of 2026, 1,647 fires have been recorded in Europe — almost as many as the worst year on record: 1,735 fires last year.

For building owners in regions with an elevated risk of wildfires, it is more important than ever to consider the fire performance of exterior materials at the design stage.

The Metrotile lightweight roofing system has an A rating under EN 13501-1 — the highest category in the European classification of a material’s reaction to fire. This means that the roofing material has a minimal contribution to fire spread and is not classified as a highly combustible material. However, bear in mind that it doesn’t reflect the fire resistance of the entire roofing assembly, which is impacted by other components.

So, when the heat is on, choose a roofing material that keeps the risk low: https://www.metrotile.co.uk

There are words every developer wants to hear from a contractor:
“We installed the new rooftop in about a third of the time.”

That’s how contractor Wayne Middleton from Davey Roofing described the installation of the Metrotile roof for the renovation of Archbishop Cranmer School in Taunton.

The traditional slate roofing was replaced with Metrotile Slate .900 stone-coated lightweight metal roof. One factor that contributed to the rapid pace of the work was the material’s weight. Metrotile is up to 7 times lighter than traditional roofing materials, while its steel tiles cover a larger area with significantly less weight per individual tile.

This means that Metrotile is easier to move around the site, transport to the roof, and install. For renovation projects, this is particularly important, as roofing work directly affects when a building can return to normal operation. In this case, students were back learning in their classrooms within several days.

We’ve already talked about the architectural style that has reached peak popularity in the UK — contemporary vernacular.

One of its defining features is how it reinterprets the role of the roof in a building’s architecture. The roof is no longer limited to the upper plane: it extends onto the façade, shapes a distinctive silhouette, and becomes an integral part of the architectural concept. This means that contemporary vernacular projects require roofing materials that can be installed on surfaces with different geometries.

That’s where Metrotile comes in. Our stone-coated lightweight metal roofing system can be installed at pitches from 10° to 90° — from low-pitched roofs to vertical façade applications. This gives architects and contractors greater freedom to realise complex forms without having to change materials within the same project.

Choose a stone-coated durable metal roof that meets not only today’s aesthetic expectations but also the technical requirements of contemporary architectural design.

Remember WALL·E? Humanity fled Earth, leaving behind a planet-sized landfill. 🍃

The key driver of this dystopian future is the construction industry — today, the sector generates more than a third of all waste in the EU.

So, if we do not want to move closer to WALL·E’s worst-case scenario, it is vital to evaluate building materials by more than just their appearance or cost. We need to consider how long they will last and what happens to them after they are dismantled.

In roofing, steel is one of the materials that can make a difference. It’s the foundation of our stone-coated lightweight metal roof. Metrotile’s corrosion-resistant steel is designed for a long service life, and once the roof reaches the end of its lifecycle, it can be recycled — without losing its essential properties. ✅

What could make someone turn down free solar panel installation?

The answer from British homeowners: appearance. One in five said no specifically because of how the panels look.*

Traditional PV panels are installed on top of the roof. They form a separate structure, add height, and change the roof’s geometry. For architectural designs where the visual integrity of the façade and roof matters, this is a major drawback.

Metrotile eQube stone-coated lightweight roof solves this problem in an innovative way. Solar modules are integrated directly into the roof plane and installed flush with the roofing. No raised panels or bulky frames. The roof retains its cohesive architectural appearance; solar generation simply becomes a functional part of it.

Don’t add solar panels to your client’s home — integrate them into the roof with Metrotile eQube: https://www.metrotile.co.uk/tile-profile/eqube-integrated-solar-tile/

£2,500 for a roof — but not even a new one. Not much of a deal, is it? 😄

That’s how much it costs to remove an old roof and the roof substructure. And that’s just the preparation stage, the new roofing and installation still have to be paid for.

This is where Metrotile’s stone-coated lightweight metal roof offers a different, more cost-effective approach to renovation. For systems with concealed fixings, in some cases, a new roof can be installed directly over the existing roofing just using new battens. This eliminates the need to remove everything and so reduces the scope of work, saving both time and money. 😍

Of course, this option depends on the condition and construction of the existing roof, as well as the specific project requirements, and should always be assessed by a professional.

Curb appeal is critical. 54% of Britons say they judge a property by its exterior within the first 30 seconds. The roof is one of the first features they notice.

That's why, when renovating his rental property in Gloucester, Mr Mulraney chose Metrotile Bond. Metrotile completely transformed the 105 m² roof, which gave the property not only a clean, modern appearance but also a roofing system backed by a 40-year warranty and requiring minimal maintenance.

For investment properties, that means fewer (or no) unexpected costs and a home that remains attractive to future tenants and prospective buyers alike.

First impressions are made in seconds. A roof's reputation is built over decades. Peace of mind is priceless. Choose a roofing solution that enhances both your property's curb appeal and its long-term value: https://www.metrotile.co.uk/

The British weather forecast:
🌧 80% chance of rain
☀️ Still enough sun for eQube.

While the forecast promises yet another cloudy day, Metrotile eQube integrated solar roof tiles quietly keep doing their job. A 3.5 kW eQube system can generate up to 3,000 kWh of electricity per year — enough to match the average annual electricity consumption of a typical UK household.

That means your home's everyday electrical demand — lighting, refrigeration, washing machines, dishwashers, and household electronics — can be powered by your own renewable energy. When combined with a heat pump or battery storage, eQube can go beyond reducing energy bills and become the foundation of a highly energy-independent home.

eQube is an engineered solution designed with UK homes in mind. Get in touch with our team for a personalised assessment for your home.
