Nationally recruited reservist engineers being put through their paces on the range last weekend.

We are seeking engineers, technicians, artisans and managers specialised in infrastructure construction, maintenence, inspection and operation in the Water, Power, Fuels, Rail, Ports and Highways sectors.

65 Works Group Royal Engineers are a nationally recruited Army Reserve unit of the British Army. We are the Armys infrastructure specialists with teams focussed on fuel, water, power, rail, ports, roads and works. Unlike most Army Reserve units we have a reduced liability of 19 days a year minumum for training, no drill nights, centralised training at Chilwell in Nottingham and opportunities for global travel.

A benefit of joining the team is the CPD through our engineering activity, networking with reservists in your industry and membership of the Institution of Royal Engineers.

As part of the Victory in Europe 80th anniversary we remember the efforts of our antecendents. Today we reflect on the endeveours of Royal Engineer Works troops.

RE Works played a huge part in the preparations for D Day with the construction of camps and port facilities at Marchwood. After landing in Normandy they followed 21st Army Group, reinstating infrastructure such as roads and utilities. RE Works constructed a number of semi permanant camps over the low countries to sustain the operation. Roads were built of aggregate crushed from bomb damaged buildings. Works with its design engineers assisted some of the more complex bridging tasks

The memory of these troops lives on within the present day in 65 Works Group through 526 Specialist Team Royal Engineers (Works) who are recruited from the UK civil engineering and construction industry.

As part of the Victory in Europe 80th anniversary we remember the efforts of our antecendents. Today we reflect on the endeveours of Royal Engineer power troops.

RE Power troops had an eventful war in the European campaigns. First of all they were faced with repairing damaged and demolished power infrastructure in Italy, in particular the Liri dam. In NW Europe they switched the power back on, restoring electricity supply for the civilian populations of France and the Low Countries. At Wars end under the British Occupation Administration, RE power troops worked with the German power companies to deliver power supply back to the shattered country which permitted post war construction efforts.

The memory of these troops lives on to the present day in 65 Works Group through 504 Specialist Team Royal Engineers (Power) who are recruited from the UK Railway industry.
