We’re proud to have played a key role in transforming part of Murphy’s Yard — a 6-hectare industrial site with a fascinating history rooted in Victorian railway infrastructure.

Our scope was to develop the design team’s concept into a 55m x 19m clear-span studio space, maximising the available height while introducing a new structural frame capable of supporting specialist lighting and filming equipment — all without adding load to the original historic structure.

The challenge? Installing the new steelwork within the existing truss arrangement, with extremely tight tolerances and no room for interference.

Using Tekla Structures alongside a detailed 3D point cloud survey, we digitally coordinated the entire frame before fabrication.

The steel was then fabricated off-site and carefully threaded through the existing trusses during installation.

The result? A complex steel frame successfully installed in just three weeks, using telehandlers and MEWPs — with zero contact made with the existing structure.

A fantastic example of what can be achieved through accurate modelling, meticulous planning and close collaboration across our drawing office, fabrication workshops, contracts department and site er****on team.
