Well, Wednesday night was a bit different to the usual week at Remanufactured Parts… 😂

Jon swapped the workshop for black tie and headed to London as a guest of Anthony, Melanie and the Darcica Logistics Limited team at the Motor Transport Awards.

And what a night to join them. 🏆

Darcica won the New Talent Development Award!

A fantastic achievement for the whole team and great to be there to see them collect it.

We also had a great table, sharing the evening with David from Brian Currie Ltd, John from Grundon, and Mark and Andy from Palletways Online. Plenty of laughs and some good transport industry conversation along the way.

Then came the surprise guest…

Michael McIntyre! 😂

He appeared to host the awards and hand out the trophies, which made an already brilliant evening even better.

Congratulations again to Anthony, Melanie and everyone at Darcica Logistics, and thanks for inviting us along.

Two years later... another one is back through the door.

Around two years ago, a specialist ground retention and geotechnical engineering company sent us a wiring loom to repair.

This week, they've sent us another.

And they're not the only ones. Last month we repaired two wiring looms for a major airline to support vehicles in its ground fleet.

When we first started Remanufactured Parts, wiring loom repair was something we offered but didn't see very often.

That's changing.

Older vehicles, damaged wiring, previous repairs and the cost or availability of complete replacement looms can all make repairing the existing loom worth considering.

Six AdBlue pump enquiries in a few days. Is the weather playing a part?

After weeks of hot, dry weather followed by thunderstorms and heavy rain, we've suddenly seen a noticeable increase in enquiries for AdBlue pumps and dosing modules.

Coincidence? Possibly.

We're certainly not saying the weather is responsible for every fault. AdBlue and SCR systems can develop problems for many different reasons, including crystallisation, contamination, wiring, connectors and the pump itself.

But after the weather we've had, it'll be interesting to see whether garages and operators notice an increase in AdBlue and SCR problems.

It doesn't drink tea.
It doesn't take lunch breaks.
But it's already pulling its weight!

Our new 6-tonne hydraulic press has joined the workshop and is helping us dismantle some of the toughest ECUs safely and without causing unnecessary damage.

Sometimes the right tool really does make all the difference.

One faulty ECU was all it took to stop this truck leaving the yard.

A commercial vehicle dealer had a used Mercedes truck ready for its new owner, but a faulty PLD Engine ECU meant the sale couldn't be completed.

The ECU was sent to our workshop, repaired, fully tested and returned.

The result? The truck was able to be shipped to its happy new owner.

Not every repair is about getting a vehicle back on the road. Sometimes it's about helping a garage or dealer complete a sale and keeping business moving.

Not every electronic component works behind the scenes.

Some of the hardest-working electronics on a commercial vehicle are the ones the driver uses every day.

This Scania Switch Control Module landed on our bench recently after years of daily use.

Hundreds of button presses, constant vibration and thousands of miles can all take their toll. Over time, it's not unusual for these units to develop faults, leaving drivers with controls that become intermittent, unresponsive or stop working altogether.

Rather than automatically replacing the complete unit, repair can often provide a practical and cost-effective alternative.

🌡️ This Thermo King climate control module landed on our bench today.

When a vehicle's climate control system develops a fault, it's easy to assume the air conditioning system itself is to blame.

In some cases, however, the fault lies within the electronic control unit that manages the system. These are the units we specialise in repairing.

With the current hot weather, we'll be interested to see whether more climate control modules start arriving in the workshop over the coming weeks.

Rather than replacing the complete unit, repair can often provide a practical alternative, helping reduce downtime and unnecessary replacement costs.
