After a busy start to the year, we’ve taken a moment to reflect on what we’re currently seeing across commercial vehicle electronics repair.

From continued ECU demand across Mercedes, DAF, Scania and Volvo platforms, to growing work in crane electronics and specialist repairs, it’s been an interesting few months in the workshop. We’ve also recently welcomed a new Senior ECU Engineer Tom Perry and started building new relationships with fleet operators.

We’ve put together a short update covering what we’re seeing and where repair strategies may be heading.

It’s been a very busy start to the year at Remanufactured Parts Ltd, so having our first slightly quieter week since January has given me a bit of time to think about what might be coming next for our industry.

With everything going on globally, you do start to wonder what impact it might have on the supply of new electronic parts. If things tighten again, will more fleets start looking at repair and remanufacturing as part of their normal planning rather than just when they get stuck?

This week I spent some time with Cliff at ODS Group, who introduced me to their workshop team. We had a good walk around looking at vehicles and talking through some of the problems they’re seeing on the ground. Always good to hear directly from the engineers keeping things moving. I left with two gear selectors to repair.

We’ve also recently brought Tom Perry in as our new Senior Engineer. He’s already getting stuck into some of our more complex repairs and R&D work. More to come on that once he’s properly settled in.

Genuinely interested to hear what others are seeing at the moment:

Are parts getting harder to get again?
Are more fleets considering repair first?
Or is it business as usual where you are?

Following a recent survey and inspection of our new workshop, we’ve now had our fire extinguishers supplied and installed by Hazlo Fire & Security

Thank you to directors Amanda and Richard for the clear advice and smooth process from inspection through to installation. It’s always reassuring dealing directly with people who know their field inside out.

Also a thank you to Nick who delivered and fitted the new alcohol resistant foam and CO₂ extinguishers in the workshop.

Health and safety is important to us at Remanufactured Parts Ltd. As we continue developing the workshop, making sure the right protection is in place is simply part of doing things properly.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join our growing team in Chesterfield.

Salary £40,000 to £45,000

This is a hands on engineering role focused on truck electronics repair, diagnostics, and component level work on high value parts such as ECUs.

You’ll also be involved in an 18 month Innovate UK R&D project, which we’re currently 9 months into.

We’re recruiting a Senior Engineer to join Remanufactured Parts Ltd in Chesterfield.

£40,000 to £45,000 | Full time

We’re two years into building a specialist truck electronics repair business.

We’re past start up mode but still early days, which means this role comes with real influence rather than fixed processes and red tape.

You’ll be working on advanced truck electronics repair, including ECU work, and supporting an Innovate UK funded R&D project that is helping us do things differently in this industry.

🎄 Christmas workshop update 🎄

Due to the recent bad weather, we’ve seen a surge in repairs coming through the workshop. To help keep vehicles moving, we’ve chosen to stay open a little longer this year and work through the units we already have in.

Most of what we’ve been repairing recently has been Engine ECUs, Instrument Clusters, Gear Selectors and Atlas ACM units.

We’ll be repairing right up until Christmas Eve, and we’ll be back in on 2nd January.

Steady Progress in the Workshop

Training has continued this month as the team works through updated procedures and test routines. The investment we’ve made in tooling and diagnostics is already helping us tighten up our processes and improve the reliability of our repairs.

It’s steady, methodical work but it’s exactly what’s needed to keep standards consistent. The team has put in the time to make sure everything is done properly, and that makes a real difference when parts go back into service.

More updates to follow as we continue to build out the workshop.

We’re all settled into our new workshop home in Chesterfield!

It’s been a big team effort over the past few months to get everything ready, and we’re really pleased with how it’s all come together. The new space gives us room to keep growing, keep improving, and keep our customers’ vehicles moving.

Well done team, and a special thanks to Alex Chiriac for overseeing the move with great support from Jonathan Lowe.

A big milestone for the team, the new signage is going up!

We grabbed a few photos along the way while the signage and window graphics were being fitted. The final frontage is now complete, and we’ll share a proper shot, if and when the sun comes out.

The branding is simple and clear, Remanufactured Parts and a phone number by the door for when the workshop’s closed. Big, bold, and easy to spot, just how we like it.

Our MD, Jon Ellard, was on hand to oversee the work (strictly from ground level, still not allowed near a power tool or a ladder!).

We only closed the workshop for two days in October to make all this happen, and it’s great to see everything coming together while keeping customer repairs on track.

Fresh Start, One Clean Floor at a Time

It’s amazing what a deep clean and a few new lights can do.

The space has had a proper tidy-up this week, and with fresh lighting in place, it’s starting to feel ready for the finishing touches, including the new signage.

It’s been a steady, hands-on process, and every bit of progress is down to the effort and patience of the team. The end is nearly in sight, and it’s looking brighter in more ways than one.
