Today our youngest Inspection Technician Jamie celebrates his birthday. He has reached the grand old age of...23! (makes me sick!)

As he has taken this week off work to enjoy his birthday and catch a few hours of sun, he is not around for us to wish him a happy birthday in person. (NOTE: he did bring a cake in before he had the week off)
So we thought we would add a montage of a few pics of him hard at work. We may have edited a few, see if you can tell which ones we have.

As we prepare to head to PLASA Focus Leeds on 12 & 13 May, we are taking a few minutes out today to celebrate Just Rigging & Inspections’ 12th birthday!

And to salute those 12 years at the forefront of inspections, repairs, and lifting & rigging equipment rental for the entertainment and leisure industries, we have commissioned workshop manager Martin’s daughter, Abbey, to make us a very special cake, which may look quite familiar to our clients… We can assure you it tastes as good as it looks, and Abbey has made it gluten and diary free too, so that our MD, Dan, can have a slice.

If you’re planning to attend PLASA Focus next week, then we’d be very pleased to see you at stand R-C18 (but we will have eaten the cake, sorry).

Since we began more than a decade ago, Just Rigging & Inspections has taken on a huge range of clients from multinational corporations to community projects. So, at the end of last year our team was delighted to start working with Frân Wen in their venue, Nyth.

Frân Wen is a non-profit, Welsh language, multidisciplinary theatre company that began in education in the mid-80s. Having outgrown their previous homes, in 2018 the company found St Mary’s, an old church in Bangor and began the process of converting it into Nyth (meaning nest), a vibrant space for young people, artists, and communities to connect and create.

Our team of lifting gear engineers visited the venue in October to carry out the required LOLER inspections on moveable trusses, hoists with trolleys, and a ladder grid in Y Stiwdio (main space) and fixed lighting bars in the Selar Stiwdio so that they are certified and safe for Frân Wen to continue redefining the future one show at a time.

We strive to offer the best value in the services that we provide at Just Rigging and have kept our prices frozen for the past two years. However, we are updating our pricing structure to reflect the rising costs that we are currently facing.

From 1 April 2026, our hourly rates, day rates and fuel recharge prices will change to:
Hourly rate - £65
Day rate - £500
Fuel recharge - 85ppm

These prices are extremely competitive with the national average, and we believe they still offer excellent value for money for the expertise, reliability, and quality of work that we provide.

We thank you for your understanding and continued custom.

Please note: price changes will not affect any inspections in April for which purchase orders have already been issued.

The Just Rigging team has been super-busy in the last couple of weeks.

Our lifting gear technicians have visited Solotech UK Group sites in Manchester and Birmingham to give their in-house hoists the once over and a spot of load testing.

The team made a flying visit to contemporary art, theatre and film venue, HOME Mcr, in Manchester for loose rigging Inspections.

We’ve also been to the Opera House in Winter Gardens Blackpool to inspect their flying system, and a week later we were back in the UK’s rock capital at the Olympia this time, conducting hoist point deflection testing, so that the venue is safe and ready to host a Martin Kemp gig this weekend.

And, just to keep us on our toes, we’ve also had 79 hoists from AVMatrix in Weatherby through the workshop in Aviation Park for their annual LOLER inspection.

We’ve spent this week in two locations looking after our long-standing client Sterling Event Group LTD. While half the team inspected loose rigging and wind up stands in Sterling’s new home close to Manchester Airport, the other half set to work on giving 87 electric hoists and 44 manual hoists the once over back at Just Rigging Towers.
