An £18 million investment. A new learning environment for 1,000 pupils. A carefully considered aluminium specification.

AluK systems were selected for Block 21 at Ysgol Maes Y Gwendraeth, which incorporates the school’s Design and Technology building. Designed by Lawray Architects, the building required slender aluminium profiles that would complement its expansive brickwork while supporting the project’s BIM requirements.

The specification included:

105m² of SL52 curtain walling

215m² of top-hung 58BW windows

20m² of GT55 TB doors

AluK also provided 3D modelling, clash detection, project U-value calculations and BREEAM information, helping the project team demonstrate compliance with Building Regulations Part L. A considered combination of design, performance and technical support for a modern education environment.

Project Win | Birmingham

The AluK 58BW window system has been specified for 12 Calthorpe Road, designed by Glancy Nicholls Architects and delivered by buildfifty5 llp, with

All Glass Systems Ltd as fabricator.

The refurbishment will transform the existing building into a four-star hotel and student accommodation, carefully respecting John Madin’s original design.

AluK's SL52 Curtain Walling, 58BW ST Windows and GT55 TB Doors helped create a striking extension at Cardiff High School, delivering bright learning spaces, strong thermal performance and a contemporary new identity for the campus.

Working alongside Stride Treglown & Kier Group the project expanded the school with new teaching, administration and reception facilities while complementing the existing building.
