Socket Set Screw Description (Grub Screw)

A set screw is a type of screw generally used to secure an object within or against another object, normally not using a nut. The most common examples are securing a pulley or gear to a shaft. Set screws are usually headless (also called blind), meaning that the screw is fully threaded and has no head projecting past the major diameter of the screw thread. If a set screw has a head, the thread will extend all the way to the head (whereas a bolt might have an unthreaded shank between the head and thread). Allen/ Hexagon Socket, Cap Head Screw/ Bolts

Socket Screw is short for, 'Allen Socket Screw' or 'Hexagan Socket Screw' and is a generic term including the 'bolt' version. The, ‘Screw', term is used to describe a fastener that is fully threaded in lengths up to and around (depending on the gauge/ diameter) 1 inch (from the underside of the head). Over, around 1 inch in length the fastener will have a, 'shoulder,' or unthreaded, plain shank under the head. This space of unthreaded area confirms that the fastener is now a bolt (cap head, bolt in the case of this listing). A little confusing, no? A2/304 Stainless Steel

A2 Grade Steel is also known as 304 and so, both are included in the description. This is a standard stainless steel that can resist weathering and chemical attack. It's application is used where the fixing will be prone to constant water, air and chemical exposure (eg. salt). A2/304 has a similar tensile strength to 8.8 high tensile steel.
