Meet Joanne Burkett, our Purchase Ledger Assistant, who also handles new account openings and general admin across the business.

Joanne has been part of Hessle for an incredible 18 years, starting out as a temp and never leaving! Over the years she's taken on all sorts of challenges, but one that's always stuck with her was during the London Olympics, when Hessle supplied machinery to the site. Joanne was responsible for checking every individual who might work on-site, contacting dozens and dozens of companies to gather passport details and documentation for security clearance.

Her advice for contractors? Keep things straightforward and upfront. When paperwork's correct and application forms are filled in properly from the start, it just makes for a much smoother experience all round.

Handling heavy loads in demanding environments requires the right equipment. ⛏️

During the installation of a new recycling plant at a quarry, the customer needed a machine capable of lifting and positioning large pipe sections and plant components safely across challenging ground conditions.

Behind the scenes at Hessle 👷‍♂️🔧

Meet Jake and Dylan, two of our apprentices gaining hands-on experience while building the skills for their future careers.

From carrying out PDIs and greasing machines to inspecting equipment and spotting issues before they become bigger problems, they're involved in the day-to-day operations that keep everything running smoothly. When equipment needs attention, they're the first to identify it and help get it ready for repair – learning through real work, every step of the way.

We're proud to give our apprentices the opportunity to develop their skills, work with industry-leading equipment and earn their qualifications while gaining valuable, hands-on experience. Whether they continue their careers with Hessle or go on to explore opportunities in industries like rail, they'll leave with the knowledge and confidence to succeed. 🚆

Meet Deborah King, our Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Manager, who works across our depots to raise standards and make sure everyone gets home safe, every day.

Deborah joined Hessle 10 months ago looking for a new challenge, bringing with her a strong background in first aid, fire safety, environmental compliance and mental health and su***de prevention training. Since starting, she's been focused on building a stronger safety culture across the business.

"If I go home every day and everybody else does too, then I'm happy" - That's exactly what drives Deborah every single day, and it's why our team is in such safe hands.
