Harmonic balancer on crankshaft pulley failed leaving someone stranded this morning, so called us out to sort it asap.

Getting a new part immediately wasn't going to happen so I did some roadside engineering and got it welded back together - using the PTO generator I built specifically for jobs like this

(proud moment for me! 💪)

Fantastic weather for it absolutely gorgeous weekend for a holiday - this time we had a caravan with a jammed motor mover after a minor accident on route.

A very happy camper at Three Cliffs Bay Holiday Park !

RAC had been out for an awful noise and wheel skipping after towing his caravan here from Doncaster. They said the diff was gone, needs to be recovered.

However, upon inspection I discovered that although it had a worn seal it wasn't gone, it was just dry! Being an AWD, low oil caused some strange issues.

Filled with new oil and drives better than ever, advice given for getting the necessary work done and after being able to enjoy they're holiday, made it home for there usual mechanic to sort when convenient 👍

Suzuki Vitara with a dangerous amount of corrosion around this mounting point for rear radius arm.

Nicely repaired, new captive nuts and bolts, lick of underseal for good measure 👨‍🏭💪

1st pic is when I arrived to the job. Threads had stripped out on the injector clamp bolt, and the previous owner had stuffed bits of metal to pack it out and slapped in a random bolt in an attempt to bodge it.. No wonder it was misfiring and smoking so bad!

2nd pic is my repair. Drill + tapped the head to next size up M10, fitted a stud nice and deep plenty of locktight, drilled the clamp to accept it. Injectors in and torqued that stud up as tight as I'd dare.

Instead of £1000 that other garages had quoted to remove and machine the head this cost £120. Some simple engineering, little bit of problem solving, same end result! 🛠️

Not done one of these for a while, inner wings and a few patches on a disco 1 👨‍🏭 for a lovely old chap who's quite fond of his landrovers, some of which he's owned for longer than I've been alive !
