Originally starting out as an Ironmonger we have been established since 1795 and have grown to offer the complete Builders and Tradesmens supplies for local areas including Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire also covering wider areas such as Swansea and Cardiff. Our fully stocked showrooms are spread out across the two floors of two buildings, where there are large showrooms for Bathrooms, Sinks / Wash Basins, Baths, Showers, Accessories, Toilets as well as Fireplaces and wall and floor tiles. Due to continued growth, Towy Works Ltd is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Yard Assistant to join our friendly team at our Johnstown Yard.
This is a hands-on role, working both indoors and outdoors throughout the year, so applicants must be physically fit and comfortable working in all weather conditions.
The Role
As an Yard Assistant, your main responsibilities will include:
• Accepting deliveries from suppliers and checking goods on arrival.
• Operating a forklift and carrying out loading and unloading duties as required.
• Checking all products accurately and efficiently, including quantities and any damage.
• Ensuring materials are loaded and unloaded safely from vehicles.
• Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe yard and warehouse environment.
• Serving and assisting customers in the yard and warehouse.
• Providing a friendly, professional and helpful service to customers at all times.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
• Is an experienced and reliable team player who can also work confidently on their own initiative.
• Has excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Is courteous, approachable and welcoming.
• Has a positive, can-do attitude and a strong work ethic.
• Holds an essential Counterbalance or Teletruk forklift licence.
• Has good knowledge of building materials.
• Has previous experience working within a builders' merchants environment.
• Is physically fit and comfortable working both indoors and outdoors.

Hours of Work
Monday to Friday: 7:30am – 4:30pm
Alternate Saturday mornings: 8:00am – 12:00pm (at The Quay, Carmarthen)

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Trade Counter Sales Assistant to join our great team based at our premises in Capel Hendre, Ammanford.
Main duties include:
• Ensuring all products are checked off in an accurate and timely manner along with checking for damages and quantities.
• Assisting customers by assessing their needs and providing them with accurate and professional advice on product suitability, specification, pricing and availability at all times.
• Following up all sales enquiries and quotations.
• Maintaining and developing existing and new customer relationships.
• Understanding margins and costs.
• Continually developing and updating your product knowledge through in-house training and experience.
• Completing all necessary paperwork in line with company procedures.
• Ensuring efficient stock ordering procedures.
• Maintaining a clean, tidy and attractive shop and storage spaces at all times.
• Assisting in the loading and offloading of deliveries from suppliers and our own delivery vehicles.
• Displaying a flexible, hands-on approach to all aspects of work.
• Working as part of a team but also able to work on your own initiative.
• Exceeding our customers’ expectations by dealing with them professionally and courteously, by telephone, e-mail or face-to-face in the showroom.
• Ensuring a high standard of customer care, service and after-sales support at all times.
• Attending in-house and external training as and when required.
• Adhering to Health & Safety procedures at all times.
The Person:
• A good communicator that works well on his or her own initiative but also as part of a team.
• Courteous and welcoming at all times.
• A good communicator with a sense of humour and a warming persona.
• Good numeracy, literacy and IT skills.
• A positive can-do attitude.
• Customer service orientated.
• Has good knowledge of building products.
• A professional with drive, energy and focus, together with strong attention to detail.
• Is enthusiastic and passionate about delivering an outstanding level of customer service.
• Is well organised and structured in delivery of customer requirements.
• Possesses excellent customer service skills, naturally generating relationships with new and existing trade and retail customers and is able to deal with customer queries and problems promptly as required.

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 7.30am am to 4.30pm plus alternate Saturday mornings 8.00am to 12.00pm.
