We’re a Carlisle based company, providing precision engineering services to industry, and we’re looking for a Profile Machine Operator/ Workshop Assistant to join our team.

The ideal candidate should hold the following attributes:

• Experience using profiling machinery (laser/ plasma/ waterjet).
• The ability to understand and interpret technical drawings.
• The ability to work with precision and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Safety awareness: understanding and adhering to safety regulations and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
• The ability to work well both within a team and autonomously.
• A positive and flexible approach to working.
• Accredited forklift truck certification (desirable but training will otherwise be provided).

The position is full time (40 hours M-F) and permanent, primarily based at our premises in Dalston, with occasional travel to Customer sites throughout the UK as required. Salary determined on experience.

Engineering Apprenticeships

Our professional and dedicated team is committed to manufacturing excellence, ensuring delivery of the very highest quality product and service to our customers.

-The Apprenticeship

During your four-year apprenticeship, you’ll develop a diverse skillset as you learn what it takes to become a competent Mechanical Engineer in an ever-changing environment.

You will be trained to a high level of competence with help from your experienced colleagues and our chosen training provider, Carlisle College, as you study toward an accredited apprenticeship containing NVQ levels 2 and 3.

The first 12 months will be spent full-time at the college where you’ll begin to develop a solid understanding of engineering practicalities and principles. Years two, three and four will be workshop based, initially with college day release, and later with assessor observed reviews on our premises.

You’ll be part of the full process, from reading drawings, to building our product, to installation and commissioning, working hands-on at our customer sites across the UK and abroad. Following your apprenticeship there is scope to take up further education and branch into specialised routes within the business.

Our apprenticeship programme has been running for more than a decade, with over 50% of our current engineering team having completed it.

The chosen apprentices will be positive thinking, keen individuals with a genuine interest in engineering and upwards of Grade 5 GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
