PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

A smart refurbishment solution delivered by White Rose Roofing, using our Fatra FF807 fleece-backed membrane to overlay an existing bitumen felt roof.

Following a detailed site survey, an overlay solution was selected as opposed to a full strip and replacement of the existing roof build-up. This approach minimised disruption for the client whilst helping to reduce overall project costs.

The completed refurbishment also incorporated our Integrated Fixing Point (IFP) system, providing secure attachment for solar panels whilst maintaining the watertight integrity of the Fatra membrane. The end result combines long-term waterproofing performance with renewable energy – extending the life of the existing roof while supporting the client’s sustainability goals.

A great example of why roofing guidance evolves.

This project involved the replacement of failed Structural Insulated Panels (SIP’s) that had resulted in significant interstitial condensation issues.

The refurbishment included:

🔵 Removal of the existing glass reinforced plastic (GRP) waterproofing system and failed Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs)
🔵 Installation of new firring strips and OSB roof deck
🔵 Self-adhesive vapour control layer
🔵 200mm tissue-faced PIR insulation
🔵 Fatra 807V bonded waterproofing system

The refurbishment now aligns with current best practice, which no longer recommends installing single ply membranes directly onto SIP’s. The new build-up provides improved thermal performance, condensation prevention and a robust long-term waterproofing solution.

Fatra UK is pleased to announce that we are re-joining NBS, with our content set to go live soon.
As part of our return to the platform, we are uploading and validating technical product information, BIM data, specification clauses, system build-ups, and supporting documentation to provide specifiers with accurate and up-to-date resources for project design and delivery.

Once live, architects, designers, consultants, and contractors will have access to Fatra's roofing and waterproofing solutions through NBS Source, enabling streamlined specification, improved design coordination, and greater confidence in product selection.

Our aim is to support the specification process with robust technical data, BIM-ready information, and comprehensive system details that align with modern digital construction workflows.
