Too often, PCB testing is only considered at the end of the design process – then faults only show up at release or in the field, when the cost is highest (rework, scrapped boards, missed deadlines, and damaged customer trust). Shift-left testing fixes that by embedding testability into design from day one.

• Move test considerations into schematic, PCB layout, and design reviews
• Ensure nets are accessible, choose the right test connectors, and reserve test points
• Partition subsystems so faults can be isolated quickly
• Make production tests faster + more deterministic, shorten bring-up debug, and improve field diagnostics
