At the end of April, we welcomed Dr Tom Gedman (The Slow GP) to CVE HQ for a 60-minute workshop entitled ‘Cognitive Fitness: Keeping Your Brain Sharp’. This practical, evidence-informed session explored fitness from multiple angles, including nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, brain training and simple everyday habits that support focus, memory and mental energy.

Workshops like these are just some of the fantastic benefits our employees can take part in and another reason why we are a certified Great Place to Work. Thanks to Dr Gedman for such an informative workshop. For more information on this work go to: https://www.theslowgp.com/

As a business, we organise a team hike each year as part of our ongoing commitment to employee wellbeing and our Thrive & Be at CVE programme. It’s a great way to step away from day-to-day routines, strengthen team relationships, support physical and mental wellbeing, and spend quality time together outside of the workplace.

We normally head to the Peak District, but this year, we opted for a walking route closer to home - along the beautiful Norfolk coast. Last Friday, 15 members of the CVE team set out along the North Norfolk Coastal Path. Over two days they covered 18-miles, with the second day fuelled by a great meal and a good night's sleep at Heacham Manor Hotel. Thanks to Large Outdoors Ltd for helping us coordinate another great walking tour, and well done to everyone who signed up and took part. The combination of Norfolk’s famous big skies, some gorgeous spring weather and stunning coastal scenery made it a weekend to remember 👟☀️

Good morning from Rotterdam! We’re looking forward to today’s 11:00am session at the Stainless Steel World Duplex Conference and Expo 2026, where the spotlight will be on one of the stainless steel industry’s toughest challenges: producing and joining thick-section duplex and super duplex materials.

From managing heat input and cooling rates to ensuring robust weld procedure qualification, this session will dive into the realities behind high-integrity fabrication.

Chris Punshon will be speaking on the potential of local vacuum electron beam and laser welding of thick-section duplex steels - exploring how these advanced techniques compare with more conventional approaches.

Alongside insights from Equinor and BUTTING Group, the session will also bring in an end-user perspective on fabrication challenges and long-term reliability.

If you're attending Duplex World, join us at 11:00am to be part of the discussion.

Kairos Power shared an update on its Engineering Test Unit programme earlier this week - an exciting initiative focused on advancing next-generation nuclear reactor technology, and a project we’re incredibly proud to be involved in.

Collaborating on projects like this reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting innovation in high-integrity manufacturing and precision electron beam welding. Programs such as the ETU are critical for demonstrating how advanced engineering and robust fabrication processes come together to enable the future of clean energy.

It’s a privilege to contribute our expertise to forward-thinking partners like Kairos - in conjunction with AMRC and others - and to be pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in nuclear technology forward together.
