Where has the rally season gone? One minute we are rushing around getting all sorts ready for everyone to enjoy their year, now we are getting ready for the winter work.

September has been a cracker! Plenty going on in the workshop on the 9 inch Foden, T3 roller boiler work and getting to a couple of shows with our family engine. Did you see us in the heritage tent at Bedfordshire Steam And Country Fayre? We had great time!!

Don't hesitate to get in contact for any winter work thats on your list. Whether it be a retube, top end work or just a bit of sprucing up just drop us a message.

Well hasn't the summer just been madness?!!
Hasn't slowed the workshop down though.

Spark arrestors flying out the door, 9 inch Foden work continues, T3 roller boiler work, machining cast iron trailer wheels, fully refurbishing the steering and front axle of an MM tractor and plenty of other machining and fabrication work going on.

We are never to busy to discuss your needs for any project so please don't hesitate to get in contact!!

SPARK ARRESTORS!!

More custom made wire wound spark arrestors going out the door to our happy customers.

External dome arrestors and internal conical arrestors avaliable to order. All we need is the internal diameter dimension of your chimney.

In this extremely hot weather, these are an essential tool to any engine.
Sadly we can only offer these for full size and anything down to a large 6 inch engines at the moment.

Flywheel Friday!

Happy Friday you lovely lot!!

This 4inch SCC burrell came in to us with a very poorly fitted flywheel. Bore over size, badly fitting flywheel key and huge run out on the flywheel rim to the bore.

The flywheel was bored out then had a new boss machined up and pressed in. The flywheel was clocked up in the lathe and hub bored out to the correct size for the crank. Rim trued up, keyway cut and new flywheel key fitted.

We are always happy to help with an engineering fix. Its not always necessary to replace damaged and worn parts. We can usually rework them! Please get In contact for any work that you need doing.

"Jamie. Do you reckon you could put a roof on my roller?" asks Dec.
"Erm, yer. I don't see why not"

We think that the new canopy on Declan 's Aveling BT roller has finished off a treat.

Luckily we had some of the original canopy irons but everything else has been fabricated in house to the original works drawing including plenty of 1/4 rivets!

For any work that you may need completing, please don't hesitate to get in contact.

Piston rings are one of those things that there is lots of opinions on the right way to do them, tolerances, thickness, ring gap blah blah and so on.

We have had 4 engines through the workshop recently suffering from lack of power, excessive water consumption and a wooshy exhaust beat. All have been found to have piston rings siezed in the piston groove in turn not creating the seal between the ring and the bore.
This little foden came in yesterday with this problem and has had a new set of cast iron rings made, bores honed and new rings fitted. The engine is back in fine fettle ready for the rally season.

For any work that you may need carrying out please don't hesitate to get in contact.
