Others could use a little more.

But wherever the rain falls, one thing is usually true:

A little rain today. A lot more mowing tomorrow.

Summer fruit pruning: what to do and how

Trained versions of fruit trees such as apples and pears – cordons, espaliers, fans and the like – need a bit of pruning in summer. Normal ‘untrained’ fruit trees can be left until winter and pruned then.

The purpose of pruning these trained forms of fruit trees in summer is to let light in to ripening fruit by removing some of the leafy growth that will have been produced during the growing season. It also helps maintain the special forms and shapes of these trained trees, as well as encouraging plentiful fruiting the following year because it encourages the formation of fruit buds.

What is a Flywheel?

The flywheel on a Briggs & Stratton small engine was originally developed to maintain constant angular velocity of the crankshaft. Simply, it stores the momentum from combustion to keep the crankshaft turning in between the engine's power strokes. The flywheel stores energy when torque is applied by the energy source, and it releases stored energy when the energy source is not applying torque.

Today, the fins on flywheels act almost like fans, cooling the engine by distributing air around the engine block. Learn more about the cooling systems on Briggs & Stratton engines. The flywheel fins also blow air across the air vane on the engine governor, keeping it running steadily and consistently at your desired speed.
