Needing some JIC fittings to fabricate some breather outlets and for some odd reason the weld-ons are much more expensive than this type ...... no problem as we have a lathe :)

Altering a part for MST's new project .... I do find the parts they bring to me to adjust quite fascinating coupled with the small snippets of what's to come from these guys .... always a pleasure to be involved.

Little job altering a steering column shaft for MST Cars nr Pwllheli. I had a play with my Tool & Cutter Grinder and sharpened a dull carbide insert for the lathe parting tool ..... I swear it cut much nicer than a new standard insert. Most likely better suited with the sharper edge for a smaller machine like the one used here :) Currently uploading a video which will show more detail, will post a link when ready to view. ..

Had this rather sorry looking Land Rover head come in for a look over that I thought I would share with you all :) It's been in storage for some time and appears to have contracted a rather nasty case of tin worm!! first job was to recut the seats as well as free up the valve guides somewhat. Brand new valves were fitted to match the recut seats which turned out rather nice considering the original condition. Next was a trip onto the mill for a reface. That sure is a lot of deep pitting though the owner assures me that we can remove up to 100 thou on this head due to it being low compression. That's rather a lot which would be a bit drastic, thankfully 20 thou did it nicely :)

Young chap brought in a pair of alloy brembo brake calipers with a couple of snapped bleed ni***es to extract. These were setup onto the mill bed using an angle plate to hold them securely in the correct orientation. ...... please see the comments with the pictures :)

Friday evening a Perkins head came in around 8pm as an urgent job. It was already nice and clean so we skimmed it while the chap waited thus eliminating any long delays along with the usual return journey to collect. We understand that working machines need to be back up and running asap and happy to do our best to help when practical :) came out with a lovely finish as usual using modern CBN tooling.

And the struggle continues :) ....... when you rebuild an engine and it makes too much power ...... the gearbox was changed to a much beafier 2ltr be4r unit but it seems we need to go further after finding we had unintentionally developed an extra neutral .... !!
