Full subcontract service and exclusive UK agents for OTEC Präzisionsfinish GmbH and the RENA Hirtisation H-Series machines. Fintek provide metal surface finishing services to the aerospace, autosports, medical device, toolmaking and precision engineering industries. Expertise covers components subtractively machined and also additively manufactured parts by 3D printing. Manging director Jonathan D

ean founded the company 40 years ago to solve metal finishing problems for high value engineering, manufacturers and jewellery makers. Providing both a comprehensive subcontract service and also machine/process sales accompanied by a wealth of problem solving expertise, the company has become one of the UK’s foremost one-stop shops for superfinishing. Well-equipped inspection and quality control ensures all deburred, edge honed, smoothed, micro finished and polished components meet exacting standards. Certification includes ISO9001 and AS9100. Since 1997 Fintek have been the UK official agent for OTEC Präzisionsfinish GmbH. Their machine technology has transformed areas previously dominated by traditional vibratory and manual finishing processes. Fintek offer OTEC equipment along with a full service to help engineers find the right combination of machine, media and process time to achieve the required surface finish for their part. This is backed by ongoing consultancy, preventative maintenance and if needed the full worldwide expertise of OTEC. Fintek have become exclusive UK agent for the RENA Hirtisation® process to automate surface finishing of additively manufactured parts - removing AM support structures, powder cake and residues, partially melted grains, finishing deep cavities, undercuts and other design intricacies inherent in many 3D printed parts. The process can also smooth and edge hone. The RENA H-Series range can handle all common 3D printed metals and alloys, with the larger H12000 automating the finishing of the output of up to 25 3D printers.

For advanced hard coatings such as PVD, surface preparation matters. A poorly prepared metal surface can compromise coating adhesion, consistency and final component performance. Using OTEC Präzisionsfinish GmbH surface finishing technology, Fintekcan refine component surfaces before coating to help create the right foundation for a high-quality hard-coated finish.

And the process doesn’t have to stop there. After coating, Fintek can apply fine surface finishing processes that remove minimal material while improving the coated surface, including the removal of hard droplets formed during coating.

The result? A smoother, more reliable surface with reduced risk of damaging particles breaking away in service. Talk to Fintek about OTEC surface finishing for pre- and post-coating applications 01706 825 819

In medical implant manufacturing, surface finishing matters. OTEC Präzisionsfinish GmbH stream finishing is ideal for demanding components such as knee implants, where controlled smoothing, polishing, deburring and radiusing must be achieved reliably and efficiently. It ensures repeatable quality and removes the inconsistencies associated with manual finishing.

A smoother, more consistent implant surface reduces friction and wear for better patient outcomes. From subcontract support to full machine installation, Fintek works with medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers to develop surface finishing processes that meet demanding performance goals.

This short OTEC video shows why stream finishing is so valuable for medical implant manufacturers. For knee implants, surface quality is more than cosmetic. It can influence friction, wear, repeatability and long-term performance. OTEC stream finishing machines can deburr, round, smooth and polish in a single, controlled process.

Fintek supports UK medical implant manufacturers in two ways:
✅by supplying OTEC Präzisionsfinish GmbH stream finishing machines for in-house production
✅by providing subcontract surface finishing when you need capacity, process development or specialist finishing support

Where is the hidden cost in your machined parts? For many manufacturers, it is not the drilling operation itself – it is what happens afterwards. Cross-drilled holes almost always create burrs at the intersection. Traditional removal methods can mean costly hand finishing, extra inspection and production queues.

Orbitool is designed to bring that work back into the machining process. Available in the UK from Fintek, Orbitool removes burrs specifically at cross-hole intersections and helps manufacturers improve quality and throughput by removing a production bottleneck.

Speak to Fintek to explore Orbitool for your application.
