Work has commenced in Bolton on another culvert debris screen upgrade for the Environment Agency.

A tight site, surrounded by properties and roads on 3 sides, and a retaining wall with foundations 1m above our excavation level required MGF shoring designs to be updated as works progressed.

With the excavation now blinded, the steel fixing can commence.

Chapter 7 - From ADT operator to Plant Maintenance Manager
This is David’s story

I joined CHC in 2023 as an ADT Operator with no plant experience, just a genuine interest in machinery and a willingness to learn. CHC supported me from the start, putting me through training and taking me on full-time once I qualified. Since then, I’ve continued to develop, gaining additional machine tickets and hands-on experience before stepping into the role of Plant Maintenance Manager two years later. I’m proud of every milestone I’ve achieved along the way and grateful for the support and guidance at CHC. It’s a place where hard work, learning and progression are encouraged.

We’re pleased to share that following our transition to an Employee Ownership Trust, CHC is now a member of the Employee Ownership Association (EOA).

We’re really proud at CHC to be able to give young people the opportunity to see what working life is actually like on site.

Zac joined us for a few days last week on work experience. As well as spending some time in our Head Office, he also got out on site so he could see what day to day site life is all about.

Opportunities like this help young people build confidence, understand how things work, and give them a more realistic idea of what to expect in a real working environment.
