It was great to welcome Jiří Popelka and Oldřich Machát from our European partner, REXIM, based in the Czech Republic, to our factory in Devon last week.

The visit was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our latest CNC machine tools and technological advancements. It also gave us the opportunity to explore how automation is becoming an increasingly important part of modern machining — helping workshops improve efficiency, reduce costs and optimise productivity.

Jiří and Oldřich were hosted by Howard Bamforth, XYZ's European Exports Director, who enjoyed showing them around our facility and sharing more about our business and machines.

XYZ Machine Tools’ Machining Mike really enjoyed taking part in the Siemens webinar to talk about Digital Twin technology and, more importantly, what it can actually mean for machining workshops in the real world.

Being able to identify potential problems, check programmes, detect collisions and validate machining processes before the machine even starts cutting really does have some exciting benefits.

It was great for Mike to share some of his own experiences from the shop floor and discuss how digitalisation can help make machining more efficient, reduce risk and ultimately save time and money.

A big thank you to the team at Siemens for inviting Machining Mike and XYZ Machine Tools, and to everyone who joined us live — we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

Developing the engineers of tomorrow starts today!

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Rory Crawford to our factory, where he came along with his mum, Laura, Owner and Editor of Machinery & Manufacturing Magazine, to get hands-on and discover what goes into making the CNC machines we manufacture.

Rather than simply watching from the sidelines, Rory got stuck in — learning about CNC machining and even making his own parts.

And there was a little extra motivation…

His challenge? To see if he could produce a part that compared favourably with the one his mum made during a previous visit to our factory!

We’re delighted to share the video of Rory’s visit and, more importantly, the enthusiasm and curiosity he brought with him – watch to see who produced the better component.

For us, it’s about much more than making machines. It’s about helping young people discover engineering, develop practical skills, and see where a career in manufacturing could take them.
